BaconPaul is currently working his butt off on Shortcircuit-XT. There are huge amounts of progress being made, and if you are interested, go check out the Github site to follow what's been going on. I'm really excited! :)
Very cool! Thank you, BaconPaul!

ShortCircuit? Wow, I remember that - it was a huge asset back in the day when I was in transit, no studio, limited computer etc for a period when I had to rely on freebies or at least budget for a while. Was good for the time in its own right as a sampler. Considering what you guys have done with Surge, this is definitely one to get me salivating. Nice one!

Cant wait for shortcircuitXT :)

I read where the Surge team helped David Hillowitz implement scala microtonal support in his
DecentSampler project. Very very 8) 8) 8) Thanks for all your efforts on affordable software! :hyper:

It was hard work to imagine porting, and shape master is great, so we didn't.

our development is completely in the open. you can check GitHub for activity on any of our projects any time you want, our plans are in issues under our synths, and we are generally always in our discord! We generally only post on this thread for numbered releases or to answer questions.

that makes two of us

we took a bit of a reset at the start of the year but are making progress. Its a lot of work though; way way way more of a 'start from scratch' than surge was (which we knew when we took it on!)

Do i remember it wrong that it was possible in Surge to make the two main envelopes behave analog way where the voltage on gate on signal begins not from zero but from the voltage it was at before ?

We are happy to release Surge XT 1.2.0 today.

XT 1.2.0 contains many new accessibility features and fixes, includes a fully self contained oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer, has new powerful features for microtonal musicians who use MTS-ESP, and contains a large number of bug fixes and enhancements. The release also contains all the code-level adaptations we needed to make Surge XT for VCV Rack work.

This release brings several new contributors to the Surge Synth team, with 11 distinct volunteer devs having commits between 1.1.2 and 1.2.0. Welcome to the new team members!

You can read the full changelog <https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/su ... angelog.md> and download the plugin at <https://surge-synthesizer.github.io>

yes
set the synth in appropriate mono mode and right mouse on the play mode area and you will get a menu with retriever options.

Those who are interested in tuning, particularly Linux users, may be especially interested in this release. Surge XT itself can now act as an MTS-ESP Source. Meaning one Surge can determine the tuning of all the other Surges (and/or other compatible instruments). This saves the repetitive work of loading the same tuning file into each instance, allowing you to experiment more effectively with tuning a whole ensemble of virtual instruments.

To our knowledge there wasn't any freeware MTS-ESP source available for linux previously. The ones we're aware of only run on Mac and Win.

Surge XT also comes with a library of tunings, and has an internal tuning editor for experimenting with tuning by ear. The new MTS-ESP source function combines well with these resources, we feel. Hope y'all find it useful! :)
