I hope they announce something interesting at NAMM, they have a booth along with u-he, pretty sure some CLAP related info, but I'd like to see something more, maybe a u-he synth bundled with Bitwig lol, why not?
u-he might also announce Zebra 3, maybe maybe maybe?

I'll speculate that they don't alter the overly sensitive mouse algorithm for scrolling/magnifying, or add a way to bulk create stretch markers from onsets, or make the text in the play menu the same size as that in the file menu. It will remain my favorite DAW in terms of appearance, and they will of course spend a lot of time and effort creating a new splash/title screen.

Before that happens, they need to get the onset detection working…. and why, in the first place, the detection is so poorly implemented. I mean, if you do it, do it right to begin with.
Why release such a critical function in a manner worse than probably any other daw out here? Is that above their skill set?
It makes you wonder….

Yep, the worst transient detection in the whole industry... sometimes I have the impression even blindly guessing the placement would be more accurate...liquidsound wrote: Sun Apr 09, 2023 6:41 pmBefore that happens, they need to get the onset detection working…. and why, in the first place, the detection is so poorly implemented. Without manual correction it´s unuseable for me...

The absurdly tedious time-stretching is the primary reason I gave up on it. But there were other things that basically showed that they don't use their program the way I would--primarily for recording and occasionally correcting audio. I had great hope during 1.x that it would mature in this area, but it's now approaching 5.x and it's no better than it was back then for my purposes.

In order of Preference:
1. Piano Roll (Cubase and Studio One are great examples)
2. ARA Integration
3. Video Editing
4. MSEG (Or at least Automation Clips)
Ableton and Bitwig have Midi Editing features useful only for Deep House Producers. Come on Berlin

It really is. Bitwig really let’s you get the most out of VA softsynths like Diva & Repro that have the same modulation limitations as the hardwareKorg Supporter wrote: Tue Mar 14, 2023 4:59 pm I currently have Renoise and S1, but I'm considering Bitwig this summer just for its CLAP, MIDI, and modulation features. Repro-5 with 3 LFOS and 4 envelopes would be amazing!

Agree 100% on this. I still use Steinberg Grooveagent (previous cubase user) for loop slicing in Bitwig because the Steiny transient detection is so much better.liquidsound wrote: Sun Apr 09, 2023 6:41 pmBefore that happens, they need to get the onset detection working…. and why, in the first place, the detection is so poorly implemented. That would be suicide. I highly doubt it. People need more than just a handful of u-he plugins
Look at how long it took certain devs to even implement VST3. NI, soundtoys & Xfer have only just rolled it out in the past year. If you think CLAP is high priority for these guys then you’re being a bit hopeful there

You all act as if the CLAP and the modulations aspect of it is a second coming of a Jesus. I mean like...90% of current electronic genres (which is were most of the DAW and plugin formats are used) were defined way before CLAP or stupid sidechain were invented.
I am not speaking about the compatibility and versatility aspect of CLAP format, which is really good.
But this modulation is nonsense...
Like you offer unlimited modulation to people through the format and then absolutely nothing revolutionary has been happening. It same old story, we are all silly wannabe artists.

From what I´ve seen, Steinberg does the job even better than Ableton... I rarely have to adjust any transient markers after their automatic detection, while the native detection in Studio One is quite good too...
Most of the time for me the ranking goes:
1. Steinberg (everywhere they got transient detection)
2. Studio One
3. Ableton
4. FL Studio
5- 1000. everything else
1001. (last place): Bitwig
I don´t know about Protools, Logic, Cakewalk and much about others though...
For me it´s astounishing that the real loop tools like Ableton, FL Studio and especially Bitwig (as they could have learned from mistakes of Ableton) are more on the back places while the traditional DAWs have a much better detection...

Right on, why have 'unlimited modulation' when you can have, er...limited modulation...and as for stupid sidechain, what can I say...bloody pumping dance music, the work of the devil.kmonkey wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 10:11 am You all act as if the CLAP and the modulations aspect of it is a second coming of a Jesus. As for electronic music...all went downhill as soon as ITB production with VSTs took over as far as I am concerned, we should all abandon our DAWS, or at the very least stop improving them!
In all seriousness, we live in a world now where there are so many great DAWS that mainly all overlap- its good that there is a DAW like Bitwig that focuses on some niche and specialist things- if you don't want them you can just look elsewhere, but I love that at least one DAW developer is giving us a choice and not just following the pack.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!
