it is scalable these days, it is not a moog topo filter but I find it a very hifi one, great for finishing and very useful for getting some stereo spread etc, it is a dual filter, with some invert options.

It is not a full blown uber editable filter like the drop, that one I see more as an SW Ebbe und Flut (i had the HW one at a time) Filterbank, almost a synth without the vco's.

If I would compare the Drop and the mutronic, the latter is more hifi I think, but that is a totally personal opinion. The resonance is very nice/smooth and not shrill or something like that.

Love that one on the stereobus.

interesting !

Had a go with The Drop.
Well, the spread parameter puts it above the others i´m running/testing in my patch.
I´ll probably stopped using it years ago, cause i might have had same license-activate issues in the past allready.
Hope, i´ve solved these now. After a little of time, i can deal with the cramped/overloaded GUI.
Overall, its still not cutting it "enough" for me, soundwise.

Softube modular is not a platform i want to deal with. (no point of discussion "here", please)
But agree, i´ve probably seen there the best software filters i stumbled upon

i´ll continue my testing.

Thanks for all the feedback ! guess we have now most if not all contenders together

The GUI is scalable, just click on and drag the bottom, right corner.

It doesn't seem the cutoff controls can be linked though, unless I missed it. And 150 is really steep for a filter plugin.

I wish UAD makes it native, I don’t have a UAD card so I can’t use, but I’d like to add it to my collection because it’s modelled after the Sub37, which is another Moog flavour and I don’t have it (… yet! but I must resist, I don’t have any room left and Moog synths are expensive at the moment here, way more than what they used to cost in the past, so I’m kinda stuck with those I already own… and the Sub37 has a mono audio in only, so I’d need the filter plugin anyway!)

No love for UVI Shade?
I read more than post = I listen more than I talk

I'm trying 2B Played 'Filter Friend 2' which is cheap and sounds promising but unless I'm mistaken, it's permanently set to an LFO and there's no way to turn that off...

I love Shade, but I tend to use it for all sorts of crazy automated things. I've not compared it to The Drop. Anyone?
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

From the original request I can't think of anything that would beat out "the drop" into a nice compressor with some nice automation of the in/ out gain. I usually just use zebrify if I want to run stuff through a synth filter. I use the drop for audio FM weirdness mostly on drums. I have used it for simple "Daft Punk" filtering of a whole mix and it's as smooth as anything around.

Yet, long time no see, since i´m still stuck to check (and learn to know) my "new" "blackfriday/end year sale" things.

"Shade" IS great !........but -to me- for completly different things.

That is a great idea using the FX version of a synth just for the filter!

What about the new-ish official Moogerfooger lowpass filter plugin (based on the effects pedal)?

yes, i would have "guessed" that this might be my best bet.
I was not aware that these Moog plugins are now available each on its own, until one guy mentioned it here in this thread.

i´ve setup in the meantime a small tinkerjob euro skiff with 2-3 Euro filters.
My GP patch in question, from where i started this thread, is definitly NOT prone to spit out cream, haha.
BUT: one of my eurorack filters still manages to dial in a certain amount of that specific creamy touch. So, its doable, even in this "sound-situation". ( one sample jam-mangling/playing within a granular sampler) (its a ladder-VCF Kit from dannysound )
edit: i knew it was doable, even on such patch )
