Hi all
Very random question (or maybe not) so starting here at KVR.
We've got a track and using a great vocal sample from our hard drives back catalogue (circa 2018).
The folder it’s in is simply under my own custom directory tree as “vocal phrases” with a subfolders:
BMaj, BMin, EBMin, F#Maj_A_Major and G Min.
Each folder contains various samples with no tags to link to the original sample collection.
In Cubase's Media Bay I can see a unique ID CC9DBB911D5F422FA0E8D2C7934500E9. No copyright info or other embedded.
Ive tried various locator sites with no success using the unique ID above.
Ive checked my catalogue of emails and checking original sample packs (zips etc) no luck yet and may have renamed it at some point, however this is unlikely. Currently searching the whole catalogue including zip files subfolder etc.
Any clues, helps or signpost to help resolve the conundrum before distributing would be really appreciated. Maybe Ive missed something obvious.
As an addum its the main hook throughout the track and recognisable - not from an existing release as far as I am aware and from my files is most definitely a sample cd sample (well download from a licensed pack maybe ADSR, Sample loops, Catalyst, Auditorily and so on).e
Sample usage - how to backtrack for copyright usage/distribution

As long as the files havent been edited you can search for files that match in length, or something called an 'MD5 checksum'
There will be 'duplicate file finder' applications out there for your chosen OS that will help...

File duplicatrers not really helped (well managed to clear 40gb of hard drive space so some achievement).
Im dong a manual windows search including zip file contents etc to see if that returns a positive.
Samples not been renamed so happy Ive got the original from source - as all files are same format and not named by myself.
Maybe take a gamble with it once Ive done some extensive searches/checks. Sure no ones going to chase me for the pitance I shall make if any
