If you want separate polls for analog and digital synths, I am happy to do so. This is a poll for synths that have extensive modulation options or matrices and aren't limited to 2 envelopes and 1 LFO like the Prologue.

PolyBrute.
Although, Prophet Rev2 and Virus TI2 would be up there, too.

I’ll second that, though I feel modern software instruments can do the Virus thing well enough and I’d rather put something like the PolyBrute or REV2 in that slot. (I own both. Had a Virus TI and sold it)cryophonik wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 2:56 am PolyBrute.

I don't even own a PolyBrute but I'd vote for that. Had the chance to play with one at a local music dealer and I got stuck there for almost 5 hours! What an incredible beast of a synthesizer and so ridiculously "immediate" for sound design and tweaking. It's one of the more inspiring synths I've played with in the past decade.
My only negative about it was that I quite often ended up with sounds that I felt needed a bit of extra EQ and dynamics processing to fit within a mix. It can get quite unruly very easily but that's of course down to how you abuse it.
Absolutely loved Steiner-Parker filter (or whatever it's called)! Very nicely voiced and super useful!

You know there are built-in EQ'ing options right?bmanic wrote: Tue Apr 11, 2023 3:14 am My only negative about it was that I quite often ended up with sounds that I felt needed a bit of extra EQ and dynamics processing to fit within a mix. Yes of course but it's not always enough. Like I said, it sometimes needs some extra EQ and dynamics to sit in the mix. Now that I think about it, it's actually a good sign as it showed me the synth can have extremely large range of voicing/sound. It's not defined by a single "character" unlike some other synthesizers out there.
