It's up, $49 upgrade.

Post

glad to see it updated but that's a steep upgrade price. was hoping it'd be closer to $29.

what is new compared to V1.x? other than apple silicon compatibility which is of course essential for people using those systems...

edit: i guess all this -
Lexicon PSP 42 is a high-quality digital stereo delay and phrase sampler plug-in based on the legendary Lexicon PCM 42 processor famous for its unique concept and distinctive sound.

In version 2, the original vision of Lexicon PSP 42 has been enhanced both in sonic accuracy and feature flexibility. In addition to the lush tape saturation algorithm and emulation of the variable sampling rate delay line that made the sound of the original PCM 42 so unique, version 2 now adds even more precise modeling of the hardware’s audio path, in a manner that allows the user to quickly decide on how much of the original character should be used. In addition to the Legacy processing mode of the previous version, Lexicon PSP 42 now offers three alternative modes:

Clean: a pristine signal path with no emulations
Lims: engages the original hardware’s two opto limiters, one at the input and one just before the A/D – the first affecting Dry and Wet signals, and the second affecting Wet and Feedback signals
Full: engages emulation not only of the limiters but also of the original A/D and D/A converters in the hardware PCM 42, whose non-linear behavior added a unique sonic twist.

Lexicon PSP 42 v. 2 adds several new features unheard of on the original hardware, including up to 28800 ms of delay time, adjustable Hi Cut filter frequency, LFO tempo sync and waveform phase adjustment, adjustable input level sensitivity to simulate –10 dBV or +4dBu operation, options to invert the Envelope Controller signal or control it with a sidechain input and four Direction modes to simulate various forward and backward repeat options. It even has a Bypass button that leaves the input limiter in the signal path, providing a subtle, realistic coloration to “dry” signals. All of these new functions are presented on an easy-to-use Extensions panel under the plug-in’s standard controls.

It is new that you don't have to be AntMan to read the ui.

I'm sure they will do something about it. Give them some time, this just came out, PSP is a small team and Antoni et al. at right now at NAMM. I think we will see a more attractive price soon.

it's not a deal breaker for me. i mean.. initial complains are just that.. initial 'hot take' complaints. i'll probably grab it on payday and be perfectly happy about it.

PSP does a lot of things right and should be rewarded for that. N20 update will be a big deal for me as i love love love that plug in and have made some tunes w/it that otherwise just wouldn't have happened.

Also remember, this is officially licensed through Lexicon, so PSP is almost certainly kicking up some cash to Lexi. Wouldn't be surprised if that impacts the price.

That said, I was really hoping they'd do a v2 with new modeling for the circuitry and limiter and that's exactly what they did. Look forward to checking this out now.

Excellent points. [tips hat]

I guess this is strictly for fans of the original unit. It’s very limited and doesn’t do any stereo effects.
It also crashes both Reason and Bitwig so I assume it was rushed out in time for NAMM. I do wish PSP were a bit more responsive with updates like Audiority. Great customer service, but they seem to be focusing all their time on updating older plugins to Apple Silicon rather than bug fixes.

They have to do N2O (N3O?) next

About stereo, I wished they did something simila to Eventide with the "dual" 910/949 harmonizer.
Since I've almost always been seeing PCM 42 rack mounted in pairs.

I used to have a saved template for the old PSP42 set as a dual channel pair, but it wasn't ideal.

Awesome. I finally just bought it a week or two ago during their 'solstice' 50% off sale.. Free update for me!

Also most psp plug-ins crash Ableton, not only vst3 also vst2. They replied to fix these issues in q1 but nothing happened

VST3 and Apple Silicon. :tu:

I will be buying it.
