lol... well, then they shouldn't do that as such a name-tag is 100% useless for the user.

The upgrade from 85 to 285 was a much more no-brainish 29$.

I was demoing this last night and just not feeling it. Although, the reverse and forward>reverse modes are pretty cool. I'm not sure if I have other delays that do that. But beyond that, which I did love about it, it was just ok.

The one important thing [to me anyway] that is missing, as others have pointed out, is a width control of some kind. Just a simple L/R delay offset would've been enough for me. I like nice, wide stereo delays. I get the original wasn't that, but we've extended beyond the original already and that seems like an obvious miss from the extended panel. Sound-wise, I wasn't crazy impressed either.

I was looking forward to this, but I may pass. I never had the prior version, so is this new one worth $99 to me? I don't think so. Not on first impression. I do want to play around with the limiter some more though.

With people's psychotic, disorderly obsession with brands, "officially licensed" products? No. I bet they sold more because it was "Lexicon approved". If it also had official Lexicon logo, they'd sell even more, because some peeps just pray to that stuff

They know how to cater to people's OCD. Everything has to be branded.

I mean, millions of people only buy food or pharmacy if it's government agency-approved or some celebrity salesman "doctor" on TV tells them it's the latest greatest shit that will be good for them.

Some of my fellow citizens are afraid to breathe the air that wasn't FDA approved and will only enter such a compromised territory with a dozen masks put on

Edit: Oh, it actually has a small Lexicon logo in the right corner. Well, that's just what dreams are made of for some :hyper:

Does anyone know if PSP 42 emulates the 12-bit AD/DA chain of the PCM 42?

I'm sure they will do something about it. Give them some time, this just came out, PSP is a small team and Antoni et al. at right now at NAMM. I think we will see a more attractive price soon.
it's not a deal breaker for me. i mean.. initial complains are just that.. initial 'hot take' complaints. i'll probably grab it on payday and be perfectly happy about it.

PSP does a lot of things right and should be rewarded for that. N20 update will be a big deal for me as i love love love that plug in and have made some tunes w/it that otherwise just wouldn't have happened.
Well, I was wrong. $49 it is... Not very enticing for me to be honest, hardly used the old one in the last several years...

Yes. In the new "full" mode, it emulates the entire signal chain including the AD/DA. There are other modes that leave it out. The manual is your friend. :)

So, does it do the non-existent Andy Wallace trick?

That upgrade price is a bit steep to be honest. I didn't have the v1 and it was about 50$ with my loyalty discount and venustheory code.

V2 should, since the opto limiters and converts are modeled now, if the non-existent Andy Wallace trick really exists.

Full: engages emulation not only of the limiters but also of the original A/D and D/A converters in the hardware PCM 42, whose non-linear behavior added a unique sonic twist.

That's actually what I was referencing when I said "I want to play around with the limiter a bit more" earlier today, as I've heard of this, but never realized it's the "Andy Wallace" trick.

For those that don't know, this explains it:

The harder you drive it the more it bites down.

That's one way to get those biting AW electric guitar sounds.

If you put in on insert on one side of an electric guitar pair with almost no delay and you turn up the input but turn down the output you get this ridiculous big in your face guitar sound.

Same goes on a lead vocal.

Is this the venustheory code?

PSP Audioware ► https://bit.ly/3yqABa7
Use venustheory to save 10%

And what’s the loyalty discount? Is it the “volume discount”?

I’m still looking at about $86, even though I bought the PSP 2445 EMT (through Plugin-Alliance.)

Yes, I always use "venustheory" to get 10% off and I meant volume discount. I have most of their plugins already.

Have tried it out in a project. So can’t load my Ableton set again without crashing - they have fixed nothing. So beware PSP if you are on Ableton

Having Jeff Buckley or Kurt Cobain on the other end of the cord is another! :D

The original PSP42 is one of my fave delays, will check this out. I'm always a sucker for delays with variable sample rate. And also hoping for a new & improved N2O!
