Because they’ve never created anything that anyone would pay money for, so they have no idea what it’s like to try and make a living off of something like that.
They give themselves away, don’t they?

A license is explicit permission granted by the licensor to the licensee, usually for a fee. The IP holder should have, and always had (up until 2012) control over who that permission is granted to, and the terms under which the permission is granted.
Third sentence contradicts the first two here: the license itself can declare whether it is transferable. Courts then rule on whether a license is legally enforceable.
And answer this: if you made music using someone's IP, and then you sold your license, can you even still distribute the music made with that IP? Remember, this isn't a physical object that we're talking about. We're talking about pure IP.
You seem to be confused here about the very real legal distinction between a "derived work" containing elements of existing material and work created using software tools.

The point is to illustrate that the ruling created more ambiguities than it resolved. Many audio software product contain samples. Sample libraries are not covered by the same law the CJEU created from whole cloth, and most sample libraries are non-transferable. So how is an audio software that is sample-based dealt with? And how do sounds generated by algorithms fundamentally differ from those generated by samples?

The CJEU turned 100 years of copyright law on its head, and with it created a legal quagmire.

I agree that samples are a different matter, and don't see what they have to do with the licensing of Cherry Audio's synthesizer products.

Who cares? If they doubled all their prices, everybody would understand that that is their right, but when they decide to stop ripping people off with transfer fess that are often as much as the seller paid for the product in the first place, you want to get all hot under the collar.

Honestly, who checks that stuff before they buy anything? It would never even cross my mind, especially for things that are $29.

Who cares about NFR ? Look at the very active KVRaudio buying and selling threads and find your answer. Hard to miss that one.

From what I have seen (and in my own experience) this is not the case. Your comment is a misinformed cheap shot for many reasons. Most of the comments I have seen have been from loyal supporters of their products, who might have spent well over $1,000, who never sold any any of these purchased CA product, and probably never thought of selling them until now.

Did my question really warrant this response? The average price of their products is $25 and they have 15 synths.

Yes. And your reply sustains it. Two words: VOLTAGE. MODULAR. You sell the gd product for heavens sake.

You can be creative in any right place on Earth, and not only in the wealthiest cities. Bring the world feelings from everywhere, and not only feelings of capitalistic or jail environment.
