I can't imagine anything that could be classified as a "vocoder" being groundbreaking enough to justify the wait for this. I used OV in a few studios when I was just starting out and it vocoded two signals together...... it was just fine. Since then pretty much every daw has had a vocoder added to it's lineup, most plugin companies have released one (or more) and various folks have tried to model old analog hardware vocoders. That's without getting into all the different frequency domain based methods for imposing the spectrum of one signal on another and the wacky stuff that came with that. I really am having trouble imagining what they could possibly have done with such a well covered area of processing. I'd rather they had spent all this time optimizing pitchmap and morph.

Was just thinking in similar terms. The Myriad/Triumpf bundle was also a project that consumed lots of time for them. Happy they did and equally happy to see OV coming out. Maybe now they will have the resources to dive into new projects, or developing their existing ones.

I'm not expecting anything earth shattering from the OV. I just like their take on messing around with frequencies, and their tech combined with a vocoder sounds like inspiration to me.

Honestly if it has a configurable and easy to use FFT mode like Vokator had way back along with some input and output spectral effects I could dig it. I still have Vokator but it's basically a dead project so having a straightforward "replacement" could possibly be cool. That stuff (nice FFT vocoding) is all possible with other software, but it's not as focused as it could be. I don't know why it so often gets left out of "spectral processors" like spec ops etc.

Even so it's a long time to just be able to do something that's already extremely possible. Maybe it will have some truly mind-blowing features that I just don't have the brains to imagine. It's gonna be sad if it's just a nice vocoder after all this time. Still. Best of luck to em.

I look forward to this $350 vocoder plugin. We're all expecting it'll be $350 right? I'm expecting the worst when it comes to pricing. Would be great if it stayed the current price or better.

I heard some over at GS talking about 250 but 150 for intro price. No idea if its true.

I could see that. I'm expecting the worst, hoping for the best. I'd buy it for a $150 intro.

I don't own any Zynaptiq products...what's their deal with licensing? iLok? Two licenses? I'll be able to run this on my PC and my Mac right? Or are they one of those monsters that charges an insane premium and only provides 1 license?
