Analog Obsession's KOLIN-like multiband version, anyone?

I really like what KOLIN VST plugin does - smoothly reducing just peaks without doing anything to the rest of the signal (like no increase of level of theose quieter parts in the signal), but sometimes I would like to have it applied just to specific range of frequencies, like 1kHz up or 350Hz below, or simply somewhere around 750Hz etc.

So my question: does anyone know if there is some sort of multiband equivalent to KOLIN? If possible, freeware, but if there would be reasonably priced commercial plugin I would not care anyway.

Hi, check out https://github.com/robbert-vdh/nih-plug or Google nih plugins, there is one called crossover that allows you to multi-band everything, really nice and useful.

Crossover has multi-out for the bands to which you can apply effects per band.

Thanx, I will look at it.

So, I did downloaded the bunch, but unfortunately only 3 out of all his plugs actually work at all (FL Studio) and CROSSOVER is not one of them, it just loads without GUI.

But I nonintentionaly found one absolutely great plugin in there called SPECTRAL COMPRESSOIR which is the only one to my knowledge that supports both downward and upward compression at the same time and doe sit without artifacts (the only other one is that internal Cubase Pro 12 plug but it is basically useless, very bad plug although it comes from Steinberg, believe it or not!) + with such a unique parameters that it might become one of my most beloved comps, haha - thanx, tho I am still in search for what I was asking initially.

Hello, glad you found them and found a gem of a compressor. Crossover doesn't have a UI, have attached a couple of screenshots. In Bitwig I have to treat it as a multi-out and create the hiden lanes, to which then you can add effects to the bands.

Well, unfortunately, in FL Studio it acts as I described above, but still, that Spectral Compressor is one of a unique plugs out there - I love it so far!

BTW I already wrote to developer on Github in issues section waiting for his reply, so we will see.

Can't Fl Patcher do what you want?

BlueCat MB-7 will allow you to set the frequency range for Kolin

Yes, but each MB-7 instance adds hell of a lot of CPU usage in my case, unfortunately (using almost 15yrs old 6-core 3.2Ghz PC, still sufficient in almost all the cases with buffering set to 2048) - that is the reason I am looking for strighforward solution = multiband Kolin version, not another nest-like plugin where I can place several Kolins, if you understand me. :ud: :hihi:

I am not using FL Studio as standalone app, rather as VSTi plugin inside Cubase, cos Cubase is my main recording audio app (I am using FL just for virtual stuff, like bass and synths and drums cos the userfriendliness and easiness of FL is way ahead of the Cubase in this regard to me).

Thus FL Patcher is of no use inside the Cubase - I pointed to FL only for the problem with the plugin GUI.
