Is it illegal to post midi patterns/samples from hardware?

:D
In preperation for selling some of my gear, I'v just bounced down and parced all the internal patterns from my DR-770 for my own use and was going to provide the pack to the KVR public when I though, maybe I should ask around to make sure I'm not breaking rules.
I was also going to record all the samples and recreate the kits in something like a soundfont or LM4 type format. (Is there a good format for layerd instruments with choke groups that can be played back by a free VSTi?)
Also on my list is the ocilators of my Nord micro mod., my Yamaha EX5 samples too.

That's a really great question. I would really like to have the quantize midis from this if you don't mind.

Yeah well the intent was to give it away to all of KVR.

Thinking about it more and more, I don't see how quantize midis would be. They just already did the patch saving for you in the machine, I could make the same quantize template myself. Now onto the actual samples, that's a tricky subject. I would think it's illegal, but then again I have those samples, and about 60 other machines that I got from some 'beatbox' download, and in that folder was all the subfolders of the actual samples.

The MIDI patterns is uncharted water, but in terms of the samples, its something along the lines of this:

You can sample a sample-based synth and use those samples in a commercial product, as long as you're not re-creating the factory presets as sample sets. In other words you have to create your own patches and sample those.

I'll admit it is very murky (eg modifying the filter resonance or decay time of a preset is technically 'creating your own patch'), and I am not aware of any court precedents, but rather this is the stated policy of (IIRC) Roland. As for non sample-based synths, I believe the door is open.
