My oldest friend posted a meme of silhouettes of household items like wooden spoons and belts with the caption, “if you were beaten as a kid with one of these, you’re probably not out rioting.” I asked him if he regularly beat his child, and suggested that maybe well off white guys from the suburbs shouldn’t be passing judgements on what other people are going though, especially not well off white guys who were prolific shoplifters (which he was, almost pathologically. He once stole a super nice Nikon SLR camera from his employer because he wanted to go out shooting and I said I didn’t want to because I didn’t have a camera.) That was a bit too much reality for him and he blocked me. Good riddance, really, but we were friends from the age of 4 on.

Ah. This was nothing, I’ve known her since I was 15 and she 12 or 13, we were a couple for a few years (she followed me to SF) long ago, I guess I’m really finally over it. she’s moved ‘deep in the woods of Oregon’ with a husband which somehow was knd of nauseating one day.

#thing about FB is you block someone they’re legit tf blocked.

also, one supposes it’s as boring or interesting as one’s friends are

FB doesn't even prioritize your friends on the feed any more, now just pushes horrible propaganda pages up your feed, news sources publishing bait articles and the most inconsequential "news" designed to stir up the pot.

The thing I still enjoy in FB are groups, the Synth memes group, The worst techno memes group and "I AM A RANDO on TINDER and THESE ARE MY DEMANDS", also some meme pages are solid like Etymology memes for deconstructed phonemes.

it doesn’t even resemble that here. If I add a “friend” it will show me little else but their posts for a couple days. This has had a chilling effect in ‘adding’ people. Other than that, which seems quite unavoidable, I appear to exert some control over the thing. I click on an x and <hide> one hell of a lot.

It sez it will show me fewer Reels and Shorts accordingly but it lies.

The ‘sponsored’ things, which means someone is paying for space there, are almost all from bleeding heart liberal causes.
