This is the first exciting things I’ve seen out of NAMM this year. I love this plugin, but it was always hampered by that bizarre interface. This one looks nice and strait forward. Shame it’s so far away.

I don't know about better... it has resulted in more varied musical results.abernathy wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 3:20 pm And I really don't think all of this infinite tweakability has resulted in better music....!

The issue is they’re not songwriters. The knob twiddlers aren’t the victims here. The music is.dubguy99 wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 10:42 am Pwoor innocent songwriters, the evil complex filter plugins are keeping them from writing songs![]()

The ease with which you appear to post absurd nonsene is truly astounding.
You are a master buffoon.

how so?
does someone else, making different music, stop you from doing what you want to do?
if people didnt enjoy listening to it, no one would do it, and as people do enjoy it, then the world of music is enriched, by more forms of music, entertaining more people.
youre just turning in to your grandparents, "ee lad, they dont write em like in my day..."

Straight to the point!
It's an obvious fact that those of us who are satisfied with our own art don't do this sad lamenting thing as we do not perceive the products of others as a threat, how different to our own ones it may ever be.
There's really no better way to tell the public that you think you totally suck donkey's ball and have zero talent than to constantly whine how talentless every one else is.

Meh, I don’t mind telling the world that I suck, since nobody cares anyway.jens wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:29 pm There's really no better way to tell the public that you think you totally suck donkey's ball and have zero talent than to constantly whine how talentless every one else is.![]()

It’s true that some songs stand on their own accompanied by sparse instrumentation. Other songs that might be weak on their own rise from experimentation and wonderful production. In reverse of my thoughts, I just heard the original “version” of Yellow Submarine, apparently a Lennon base, that revolved around a sullen “In the town where I was born, no one cared, no one cared.” I wish that had been flushed out - that would have stood on its own without production.musicproducerdee wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:59 amSongwriting has for sure lost its value to an extent. A lot of music making has been about plugins and one's capabilities of using the said plugins. It's sad.jamcat wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 9:26 am This embodies everything wrong with music today. It’s all knob twiddling and no songwriting. Modulated filters have been played out for 20 years now.

I don't think people are listening, honestly. Bandcamp and Soundcloud counters don't lie. 20 minutes of filters and delays droning on is a lot more fun for the person making it than the person listening to it.

That absolutely makes zero sense as anyone with half a brain will have no problem to assess.
If you don't want to listen to whatever then just don't listen to it.
There, I solved the problem for you. You are welcome.
edit: Ah, I see you noticed that yourself and quickly tried to inject at least some sense into it with that edit.
Well, at least you tried - credit where credit is due.

That's like if I point out that hammers are poorly made these days and you say "easy, just don't use one," missing out on the point completely that I need a new hammer.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "a good craftsman doesn't blame his tools?" Yeah, maybe hammers were made better 30 years ago, but if they can still drive nails into wood, just get on with it and create what you set out to create.jamcat wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 10:25 pm That's like if I point out that hammers are poorly made these days and you say "easy, just don't use one," missing out on the point completely that I need a new hammer.
You may think modern songwriting is bad, but it's not the tools at fault.
