now, stereo reels for morphagene, as in, different sounds on the two channels! why? i hear you ask?
to double up on sounds of course, and using cvilization to switch between them as the slice changes. (mode2)

Yesterday, I spent time with XPO, STO and Mindphaser looking for ways to expand on the voicing, making them sound like more than one module when used alone. I’m watching lots more videos seeing how others add modulation to create motion and changes in their systems.
I’m now looking at Pachinko, the Marbles clone in 12hp to likely add on later this year.
Today, I spent time with Strega using it as a utility in addition to using it as a voice/effects module with utilities from 0-Coast, driven by Syntakt clocked into 0-Ctrl (via 0-Coast).
Later, it’ll be time for Morphagene. I need to create new reels in addition to adjusting settings via the option.txt file.
I’m leaving CVilization for last but I’m hoping to dip into mode 3 later today and start working on that through the week.
*I also reorganized my patch cables. They store away much better than before, but they’re not as accessible when patching. I have them sorted in zipped mesh pouches for pencils & pens.
I managed to use all my 6”/15cm, 12”/30cm and 24”/75cm cables, so I’m likely buying more today while they’re on sale.

its ok as long as you only have about 20 slices per channel.elxsound wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 6:47 pmThat’s a great idea!vurt wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 6:08 pm now, stereo reels for morphagene, as in, different sounds on the two channels! why? i hear you ask?

gets tedious if you go much higher.
now i know it works though, i can see it being used often, and with better choices for sounds. i just sliced up a couple of modular recordings for the trial run.

Yesterday I spent a lot of time with the STVC creating patches that use more modulation sources.
For some reason, the expression pedal would not work with it. I am using the Boss EV-30 which can control two synthesizers and it works great for the Prologue, but not the Waldorf. Does anyone know if the two companies use opposite polarity? That's the only thing I can think of for why it won't work.

I don’t know, but it’s quite possible. Can you not change polarity of the pedal, I know mine can and it’s only a cheap M-Audio one?Constructed Identity wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:33 pm Yesterday I spent a lot of time with the STVC creating patches that use more modulation sources.

Oh yes, there is a switch on the back, but if I change it's polarity the Prologue will be off...or does it auto detect polarity? can't remember.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:38 pmI don’t know, but it’s quite possible. From the EV-30 manual it appears that the polarity switch will only affect EXP output 2. (from manual: "if the POLARITY switch is set to "INV", EXP 2 operates in the opposite direction of control as EXP 1"). Just be aware that it appears the polarity/direction of EXP 1 is fixed, so the switch will do nothing for the first output.

Started programming a drum track (my least favourite bit). Shredded on my Strat for a couple of hours.

I've finished my deep dive into Intellijel Shapeshifter and am ready to write it up and move on. It feels weird just to concentrate on one piece of gear and ignore most of the rest of it for so long, but it's been really helpful. Instead of living with just one wavetable bank, I've expanded my horizons a bit, and found quite a few useful techniques. I no longer have any desire to replace it, in fact I'm back to thinking I could sell off some other stuff instead.
I'll look at Akemie's Castle next I think. At 38HP, and with so much other FM stuff, I keep thinking I could trade it for something else... then I patch it and fall in love again. This is probably gonna be another one of those times, but I guess I need the reminder.

Deep-diving modules is definitely strange because on the surface it’s not immediately productive (at least that’s my feeling).
Additionally every module becomes worth keeping! The only exception to this for me is endorphin.es stuff. Running Order is very useful for quickly step programming sequences but everything else is inconsistent.
Sometimes clock divide/multiply works. Sometimes the repeats work.
For Milky Ways and Squawk Dirty, sometimes Meta Mode works.
They pack lots of functions in 6hp, but they’ll be off soon enough and I’ll have an extra 18hp.
I have been having fun with this. I’m trying to push by using only the modules for different events as opposed to an external sequencer (which would be much easier). I figure it’ll make things easier later (I hope).

Have been playing around with notebook and CAD a bit. I have an idea for an analogue logic module but it wants to be quite dense for my hand/protoboard workflow. The answer might be to make these NAND submodules which can pack closely and stick out the back of the main board...

Yup, tested this. Switching the polarity on the EV-30 doesn't change the #1 out. However it also doesn't effect the Waldorf - now I've tried everything! I swapped cables and went into settings to uncheck and then recheck it. It may be a keyboard bug. I was disappointed to find out that despite having a keybed with velocity + after touch, no factory patch uses them! and modulating the key volume also affects the effects.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 6:37 amI just googled, someone on reddit saidConstructed Identity wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 2:15 amOh yes, there is a switch on the back, but if I change it's polarity the Prologue will be off...or does it auto detect polarity? can't remember.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun Apr 16, 2023 11:38 pmI don’t know, but it’s quite possible. Sounds like stuff that should be fixable in firmware and should be on Waldorf’s to-do list.
