Here are a few cool names, picked at random:
10 CC
The 5.6.7.8's - (Appeared in Kill Bill, Vol. 1)
Art of Noise
Badfinger
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dream Academy
Electric Light Orchestra
The Flying Lizards
The Grateful Dead
Howlin Wolf
Iron Butterfly
Jan & Dean *
Kiss - (Keep It Simple Stupid? - Knights In Satan's Service?)
The Lovin Spoonful - (What was that about?)
Muddy Waters
Nine Inch Nails
Ozric Tentacles
Procol Harum
Quicksilver - (Freddie Mercury and the Quicksilvers might have been interesting.)
Rage Against the Machine
Strawberry Alarm Clock
Thin Lizzy
Uriah Heep
The Velvet Underground
Wall of Voodoo
Static-X
The Yardbirds
The Zombies
---
* I only mention this one, because I'm very distantly related to Jan Berry. I think Jan is the only famous person in my whole family tree (so far.) There's something sort of cool about finding out you're related to someone in a famous band.
take care,

I tend to like them short, sweet, and not too culturally referential. A few of my favorites:
The Sex Pistols--sex, violence, penis reference--what could be more rock and roll?
Pearl Jam--not a big fan, but veiled semen references are always cool! (THAT'S what The Lovin' Spoonful and 10cc refer to as well)
The Who--why does it sound like an exciting young band, even when they aren't anymore?
Pink Floyd
The Breeders--gay slang for heterosexuals
Gang of Four
Gun Club
Snake Farm
The Stooges
Talking Heads
System of a Down
The Buzzcocks
The Ramones
Green Day--largely due to its origin, since it refers to a day spent getting stoned
Kraftwerk
The Grateful Dead--don't particularly like them but the name's cool
The Doors
Velvet Underground
The Pixies
The Butthole Surfers--daring in its time, and just what does it mean?
Jethro Tull--first "person" name for a band I remember, and it still sounds cool
Worst name for a band I actually like (at least the early stuff): Genesis
Runner up: Gentle Giant
Best name of a band I used to be in: Latex Duplex
Best name I thought of for a bar band I haven't formed yet: The Pain Killers (double negative, with drug reference!)
Best name a friend of mine thought of for the right kind of electronic band: The Darkies (Is it too dated to be controversial? I'd love to find out!)
Best name a friend of mine thought of for a metal band: Nurse
Best name for a druggie jam band that used to play anywhere they could when I was fifteen years old: Free Food
Best culturally referential name for a boy band I would form as Svengali-like producer: Spongeworthy (In the Seinfeld universe, Elaine's term for "fuckable")
Enough, I'm having too much fun...

Sigue Sigue Sputnik
Les Georges Leningrad
Godzilla Volume (true! I even have a CD of these, some PTV acolytes)
Aphrodite's Child (one of the worst bandnames ever IMHO, though was somewhat interesting band)
zoviet*france (not sure with the spelling, but they have an asterick somewhere)
And the band I sang with in 1990-1992
The Ballerinas

yes i have,i was merely joking my friend,i have nothing against the certain genre (dont want to turn this thread into a T thread ok
)and altho i admit ive only heard a few tracks they were ok for what they are,i do however prefer stuff like banco de gaia, system 7 i beleive it was called trance in its time anyway, but chill man,oh and abba are still sh*t!
