Just click on the sample layer name box, click import, then navigate to where the .sfz file is located and click on it.GaryG wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 1:01 pm must be having a dull day but... how do you load an sfz file...?![]()

Ah ok, looks like the sfz's i was trying were dodgy/not compatible.
I tried that with Cakewalk DimensionPro ones but just said it was an invalid WAV file which made me think I was doing something wrong, just tried again with some different ones and they appear to load (missing sample message on a couple but guess that's down to the sfz coding). Cool whatever.
Thanks a lot.

You are correct, this SFZ file does indeed appear to be invalid. Its samples are stored inside a separate folder, but the code inside the SFZ file makes no reference to this folder :/Teksonik wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 1:09 pm
I'm just searching google for .sfz files to test. I found this one, the "Motif ES6 Concert Piano"
https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts?formats=sfz
I get the following message when trying to import it:
Apricot 041823-1.png
I think this one may just be a wonky .sfz file. I'll keep looking and testing.![]()

It's quite possible you're running into the same issue I mentioned earlier. I'm going to upload a new beta version shortly, v1.1.6, which should fix some of the sample load errors.GaryG wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 1:40 pmAh ok, looks like the sfz's i was trying were dodgy/not compatible.

Thanks for testing it out, nonetheless

I tried moving the .sfz file into the same folder as the samples but still no luck.nakst wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:33 pm You are correct, this SFZ file does indeed appear to be invalid. I guess no one has noticed it's wonky yet since it says: "Uploaded on Apr 03, 2023 (and last updated on Apr 18, 2023)". I downloaded again thinking it might be fixed but no.
The file itself says "sfz created by Awave Studio v11.2" so maybe there is an issue with .sfz files saved from within that software or that version of the software?

Now that I look a little closer, it seems the SFZ file references a "CG_G#6(R).wav" file, but no such sample exists in the zip file! So it's no wonder it doesn't loadTeksonik wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:53 pmI tried moving the .sfz file into the same folder as the samples but still no luck.nakst wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 4:33 pm You are correct, this SFZ file does indeed appear to be invalid. A bit off topic here, but anyone know if Cakewalk is now Clap compatible? I'd like to try Apricot if it is.

What about a short search like 'cakewalk clap' in your search engine of choice?Examigan wrote: Tue Apr 18, 2023 5:06 pm A bit off topic here, but anyone know if Cakewalk is now Clap compatible? I'd like to try Apricot if it is.
I'm sure you would get a recent entry stating that it does so now - If it would...
So no, it doesn't (yet).
Apricot also comes as a standalone executable - so you could try it this way.
Edit:
BTW: There is this site where you can check about Clap supporting hosts and Clap plugins:

Yes I guess I could have just googled it but I didn’t. Sometimes I just ask about music related things here first as I might get more
up to date info than an older thread or article.

For no particular reason, I just had a quick look at the "Motif ES6 Concert Piano" sfz mentioned earlier.
Kontakt 5 said it was missing CG_G#6(R).wav
I deleted all the lines in the sfz relating to that file, using notepad and saved the sfz.
Apricot states that a wav file referenced won't load.
It loads in Kontakt 5 (if you have the KConvert file installed) but it really sounds like crap.
It leaves sforzando hanging on loading, loads dead as a doornail in sfizz and loads into DirectWave vst version but again sounds nothing like a piano.
However, it does load in the FL Studio native version of DirectWave and it actually sounds like a piano !

Any word on a new Apricot Beta or .sfz support in Altitude?

As mentioned in my PM here is one of the .sfz files that generates a "The file is not encoded correctly (W4)" message.
