Now that Reaktor is Apple M1 native, I've finally delved deep into it's innards and am yet again absolutely blown away by the quality that is possible. I always knew this of course but I haven't used it actively in a long time.

I also noticed that Reaper can now 100% successfully save it's own presets and every single control, ensemble loaded, samples used (as long as the sample is in it's proper directory it originally was dragged from) gets instantly recalled. This means I'm building up my own library of favorite presets, tweaks and ensembles, saving them in Reaper in the format of <ensemble> - <category> - <preset name & description>, all instantly recallable. No need to menu dive through Reaktor itself. It just works.

NI Form, Monark and Razor have yet again blown me away with their awesomeness.. and I found a gem in the user library that I haven't used before, called bEAST2. I had to modify it a bit because some of the knobs and sliders mouse resolution was wonky and there were some features missing that I simply added but the overall design and capability of this ensemble is fantastic.

Finally, running these things at high internal oversampling makes some of the ensembles sound incredibly "expensive" and absolutely stunning. Here is a quick audio example of a sound I made in my modified bEAST2 ensemble.

.. I mean, just listen to this!! (Google Drive link, mp3)

This is the best Reaktor has ever performed on any system for me and I finally found a really good workflow with the preset saving within Reaper.

So yeah, wanted to make a new thread for the old King.

Yeah it runs like a champ on my Mac Studio. Have you tried the mod to enable many more partials in Razor? Well worth doing alongside upping the audio rate - none of this fazes my cpu now

Post

No! Didn't know there was a mod for it. Any link to the info? Is it a mod somebody has released?

Do you have instructions for the Razor mod, or a link to some? :)

I feel very silly for asking, but could someone tell me where to find the Blocks Factory patches, as shown on the bottom of the Blocks product page below, thanks!

Monovoks, to me, is still one of the nastiest, grimey-sounding Reaktor ensembles, there is. Instant "stank face" creator:

Thank you for shouting out bEAST2 will have a look at it. Always on the look out for some new instuments and ensembles to mess around with. If anyone else have suggestions feel free to share them !

There's one called Parasite 2 that's a Virus emu. I don't know how this sounds but the first version was quite a little noisemaker. I've been using a lot of the effects. Some rival and even outshine regular standalone stuff. Surprisingly easy on CPU also.

Definitely keep ensemble suggestions coming, no matter how obscure of if self promotion! Now that I have access to Reaktor again I want to build up a new user based library (I used to have hundreds on my old Windows laptop).

I'm probably going to start building my own dream synth at some point, borrowing blocks and ideas from other ensembles. I just fear that I get stuck in the UI development phase like I did last time around. Designing the audio path of the instrument is like 10% of the work, whereas the UI is 90% of the work.

wow - what great looking ensembles!

Really love that delay GUI. Reminds me of this synth Fourious, which though much more impractical is perhaps my favourite synth UI of all time.

A good place to start is just order by rated in the user library, though you may miss out on some earlier gems. Thought part of the fuin is d/l random stuff and giving it a try. Factory library itself is also quite decent. I still like Grobian, Skrewell and some of the granular tools.

I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask. My most used emsemble is pretty much a version of an SH-101 from way back, run at a gritty 33k. Most people would say it sounds terrible, but it has a great quality to it!
