When modules have an output resistor, typically 1k, you can plug them into a mult and get a crude passive mixer. This is a common technique used on the ARP2500 because the matrix sliders are really just switches that mult outputs and direct them to other inputs.vurt wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 5:02 pm re that video, it came up in chat, that the star mults, not only can be used to stack gates, but cv too.
so long as it's a make noise star, and voltages. according to walker, and he knows!
pretty much thought that was what buffered mults were for? or do they just add the output resistance as an input?
i didn't know that site at all, im sure there is plenty on there that will open up my current rack

I followed the Make Noise video of Strega into QPAS (and not included in the title, into Mimeophon).
I added Beads at the end and did my attempts at “ambient” which I have never done before. Definitely not sure what to think of the results but those videos are great for trying things I wouldn’t have tried before.
These are studies... not much more than that. Just trying it out and that's it.
The second one is noisy, so not sure it counts?

well, that was wonderful
the first is a nice bit of melodic ambient, has an eno feel to it, moves along nicely.
the second, well, this is more my thing
all the lovely tones moving around each other, bubbling to the front, then melting back in as something else takes over
could easily have been one of my cthulhu tracks

thanks for the heads-up, but as elxsound says, i already have them, and as nice as they are, i don't have space for two of either, they're not the smallest of modulesWatchTheGuitar wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 11:57 pm Just noticed these on reverb, both free shipping, thought vurt etc may be interested

not sure how much space in the sound spectrum for them either, they both have a very present sound.

second morphagene or mimeophon might not be out of the realm of possibility though...

Thank you for checking them out… I think the second is more my liking too but Strega sounded too pretty and that’s how the first one came about.vurt wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 1:10 pmelxsound wrote: Wed Apr 19, 2023 7:20 pmI still need to watch, but this is what I recorded yesterday... They’re both the same Make Noise patch from Strega into QPAS video, just different tuning and modulation. I would never have tried patching the triangle out from Strega into the frequency mod of QPAS. It’s a different flavor of sound that stays in key.

Working on a new song. In 8/4 time. First time in a long time I've started something new.

A remix.
Turned a lovely electronic chillout track into a mostly acoustic indie misery fest. Authors of the original seem to like it.

its those little tricks i keep watching them for, as well as a few other channels, but most do the one off demo vids and never revisit modules for deep dives.elxsound wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:12 pm

and while each video may be 10/15 minutes long, as a whole, there are hours for some modules, lots of different patch ideas too, especially when they get different team members involved, they all seem to have their own way of thinking.

In the Strega/QPAS one Walker mentions they have over 100 of these videos.vurt wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 7:07 pmits those little tricks i keep watching them for, as well as a few other channels, but most do the one off demo vids and never revisit modules for deep dives.elxsound wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 3:12 pm

Finally watched Stregambient. So it seems you do Dark Ambient?

yeah, although i did set out to do more industrial similar to throbbing gristle and coil.
although coil did all kinds of stuff, including some dark ambient, so i didnt completely miss the mark
tbh though, i just enjoy making noise and exploring sound.
so usually just call it experimental, i like that as it also means i dont really have to try and explain what i mean, to non synth/fx people.
