The repo files may be a mixed bag, quality-wise.
FWIW, here is a file I exported from BIAB, with a pic showing the chords.

Perfect ! It was just the Plugin with this issue, set it to opengl and restarted.musicdevelopments wrote: Mon Apr 17, 2023 3:31 pm ..I have seen this with a bad Direct3D11 driver. Can you select either Direct3D, OpenGL or 'software' as the render driver under Settings / User Interface? You can try 'software' first to see if that fixes things.
Thanks,

Hi again,
Here is a different set of files (.ls) in a different format, so-called "leadsheet" format. This is the native format of the amazing Impro-Visor program. A couple thousand tunes plus here!
Here is what the chord-relevant part of a .ls file looks like:
Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 | Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 |
Fm7 Bb7 | EbM7 Ebm7 | Dm7 G7 | Cm7 F7 |
Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 | Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 |
Fm7 Bb7 | EbM7 Ebm7 | Dm7 G7 | Cm7 F7 Bb6 / |
D7 | / | G7 | / |
C7 | / | F7 | / |
Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 | Bb6 Gm7 | Cm7 F7 |
Fm7 Bb7 | EbM7 Ebm7 | Dm7 G7 | Cm7 F7 Bb6 / |
As can be seen, each measure is delineated, multiple chords per measure are possible (just put them between the delineators), the use of the slash as a repeat symbol keeps the entire structure visually clear and both easy to read/understand for humans and easy to parse for software.
For someone who has computer keyboard typing skills, typing in a progression this way is probably the fastest way on earth to enter it.
I'm pretty sure this is all by design, and IMO it is 100% successful.
The full official format description is here:
https://www.cs.hmc.edu/~keller/jazz/imp ... tation.pdf
So, while still fully in favor of all the UI, MIDI (and now) MusicXML ways we have of supplying chord progressions into Rapid Composer, I do dare suggest as a further future nice-to-have the ability for RC to import chord progressions from .ls files.
And I'll note as an aside, if RC could write out .ls files (with or without melody info, which is also a very logical format) there are generative capabilities within Impro-Visor that are also very composer-enabling. Back-and-forth full interoperability here would be a technological power-assist of a type rarely (if ever) seen before.
Cheers!

Probably a bug.. if you render a phrase, then edit in the phrase editor, the CC's are not visible, sort of. If you box select the phrase, CC's don't show. If you click a note, then the CC shows, but lose the box selection, of course. I only tested this with the velocity..

RC needs a progress bar when rendering out (exporting) whole compositions. If you have a long, kind of big composition, other than the level meters moving in the tracks, you have no clue it is actually processing.
I noticed this when exporting a 7 minute composition, which took about 3 or 4 minutes to render..
I needed a music track for a 10 minute video, so, I made a one minute composition in RC, combined the parts as one, then duplicated that 7 times. (fast way if you need some background music for something like that) it's Rapid!

Hi
I find on youtube video that use chatgpt to create guitar riffs. sound good. maybe there can add in rc that it can load the guitar tab text file and convert it to a phrase file ? in the video title picture you see how such a chat-gpt output look.

When dragging midi from EZ Keys 2 to RC (stand alone) to the master track RC crashes..

The EZ Keys crash might just be EZ Keys related. I had EZ Keys crash dragging between 2 instances of EZ Keys and trying to do a similar drop like in RC.

It is great that they fixed that! Hopefully I'll receive my EZKeys 2 license soon.

RapidComposer v4.7b9 is available!
Many new features in this update, almost like in a major update. The biggest feature is the new Markov model which works for monophonic and polyphonic notes. It is better than AI in some respects:

Many new features in this update, almost like in a major update. The biggest feature is the new Markov model which works for monophonic and polyphonic notes. It is better than AI in some respects:
- it works the same way as AI, it always creates the 'next' note, but you have more control about the selection
- similarly to AI, it can generate any length
- it does not require a lengthy training process on hundreds or thousands of MIDI files, just drop a single MIDI file, and it'll create variations of it
Improvements in beta9:
- Markov model implemented in the new Markov phrase generator. Drop a MIDI file on the Markov Generator, and generate similar notes of any length
- Markov generator implemented in MIDI Mutator
- Holding Ctrl during resizing notes will set all selected notes to the same length
- Enable screensaver setting added (enabled by default)
- More subtle colors for shading the background ('shaded' and chord notes). You need to re-select "Dark" or "Dark with orange" in order to use the new colors, because your existing color settings are preserved.
- "Darken by 5%" and "Lighten by 5%" menu items added for the color settings
- Idea Tool UI improvements and layout optimizations
- Fix in Idea Tool: generator presets had wrong length
- The text editing field triangle can be better seen and clicked with big font sizes
- [Windows][Plug-ins] Fixed: some text editing fields were not redrawn properly during editing
