That'll depend on what's receiving the MIDI. I use it to toggle buttons in Bitwig sometimes if I just need an on/off state for something and I don't want to assign one of my footswitches instead.Stefken wrote: Thu Apr 20, 2023 5:36 pm Can you control a button over midi with a slider on the Sweet 16?
The use case was to manipulate the modules in the Hector UI over midi. For example on the Marbles/Chaos module : control the bias knob. But Marbles also has buttons e.g. the ones to lock the deja vu/ loop section.
Ooh, I like This Modular Rack...

If I were to get Hector, this is how it could work, adding on 3 new modules listed below (but likely Hector on the Right side instead of Left).
*Is there a 6hp mixer for CV, with attenuators that can cascade down, with 6 or more inputs? Does that exist? I’m considering these x2 Pico Mix modules.
**Gliss - Any reservations on this? I love that it’s 4hp, can record movement and it can be triggered. Compared to something like Erica Synths joystick, that records but doesn’t sync and is 12hp, I thought this might be a nice inexpensive way to add modulation to the rack. https://blog.bela.io/gliss-modular-touch-control/
***Ornament & Crime - I mostly want this for the Turing machine(s), but I know it does more, and I’m just starting to look into it.

I probably don't really need more controllers, but it looks good to me and I went in on the crowdfunding thing. Should be shipping within a month or so...elxsound wrote: Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:41 pm **Gliss - Any reservations on this? I love that it’s 4hp, can record movement and it can be triggered. 3x mia is a 6-channel attenuverting mixer/offset/scale/polarizer. 3 blocks of 2-channel attenuverting mixers, using dual concentric pots. each channel can be switched to mix with the subsequent channel, allowing for 2-2-2, 4-2, 6 mix configurations. with nothing plugged into an input, an offset is normalled to that channel. the inner knobs control the a inputs, while the outer knobs control the b inputs. dc coupled, so it can be used for audio, cv, or both at the same time.

That would be perfect… I’m definitely tired. It took me a while to realize there are 3 sets of double knobs. I was confused by inner vs outer knob verbiage in the description. I finally got it!Shabdahbriah wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 4:19 amblack.jpgelxsound wrote: Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:41 pm *Is there a 6hp mixer for CV, with attenuators that can cascade down, with 6 or more inputs? I really like this but I’m going to wait until next week just to make sure it’s not because it’s shiny and has cool lights.foosnark wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 1:41 amI probably don't really need more controllers, but it looks good to me and I went in on the crowdfunding thing. I made the mistake of watching patching with joysticks and thinking I could make use of that functionality especially if I can record the modulation.
Gliss records up to a minute of modulation and I think that’s enough for me.

* For Hector it might be interesting to have some hands on control. I already have the Brains clone and i will probably keep it because that one will give me hands on control and will take some load of the Hector CPU. Running 4 M.I devices will get you close to maxing the cpu. (Depends on how cpu intensive the module is). You might opt to have some curated MI devices in hardware anyways, as e.g. a Rings or a Plaits. Having some more hands on control via a midi device is probably also interesting.
* M.I. Marbles will get you pretty close to a turing machine, and you can also have the deja vu sample any cv you want. But it is not exactely the same.
Hector will give you quite a bit of the functionality of O_C . Envelopes, lfo, quantizer, divider, ... The Hector Euclidian sequencer seems a lot more elegant than the one from O_C, the looper is pretty nice. Hector has quite a few very nice interfaces. Benn Jordan claims the Hector UI thought him to get a better understanding of the M.I. devices than the hardware UIs gave him.
But O_C has some smaller devices that Hector currently seems to lack as a Bernouilli gate, LowerRenz attractor. I also don 't seem to find a switch in the Hector manual? I surely hope we can have a switch at a later time...

The Benisphere firmware is also interesting.

The ones with Japanese (Katakana) lettering are MI clones, Rings (Rangoon version w/sliders - arriving next week), Plaits (Beehive 8hp version) and a 1:1 Veils (VCA). Otherwise, I definitely agree that hands on control is important and it’s the only reason I’m struggling to add Hector… But, if I want to live with this size rack, it would be an economical and smart choice because of it’s flexibility.Stefken wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 12:37 pmSome remarks, either relevant or not...elxsound wrote: Fri Apr 21, 2023 11:41 pm If I were to get Hector, this is how it could work, adding on 3 new modules listed below (but likely Hector on the Right side instead of Left).

Plaits on Hector/Beebo is great so I can see how it could be easier to understand better in this form. I have Beebo and I’m going to spend some time this weekend just exploring the Marbles clone and Rings/Plaits. There’s no CV in/out on Beebo, just Midi, but it’s still fun.
I’ll be watching more videos on O_C and going through the modules. I think it’s a good pick up, but it’ll likely be that last one I get.Stefken wrote: Sat Apr 22, 2023 12:37 pm But O_C has some smaller devices that Hector currently seems to lack as a Bernouilli gate, LowerRenz attractor. Right, forgot about that.
Well, with the real thing at hand, i d appreciate if you could tell me if there is a sequential switch on board. It would seem a bit of an odd omission.

No sequential switch!
A ridiculous number of utilities. I still need to see what kind of cpu limit I get when using just utilities.
Rings looks nice on Beebo. I’ve never used it here, just Plaits.
Theres a big improvement with hector… on Beebo the glass is recessed, just below the metal enclosure making it hard to select things by the edges.
That wouldn’t be an issue on Hector.

Anyone familiar with WMD’s Sl3kt?
Aside from the sequential switch in CVilization, I’m not very familiar with switches. The one video I watched on switches, featured this one and at just 4hp it would definitely fit.
The down side to this one is the price. I’d likely need to pay full price if I want it. Some of the 2nd hand WMD prices are creeping up since they closed up shop, but they’re still available at some shops.

Can t answer your question but you might have a look at the Mixwitch also, which is a mix + switch module with some extra nice tricks up its sleeve.

Some more Klavis promotion, but yet again this thing packs a lot in a small package.
Does all kinds of triggering stuff for an affordable price. Belgian homebrewed quality

I had a Ladik P-075 manual switch for a while. It was nice since you have the option of toggle or momentary button, the toggle reverses the button, and it was completely passive.
But I often found myself patching it to Shades, so I could switch a fixed voltage on and off for transposition or whatever. I thought, can I do that with one module? And also Mixwitch had this latching patch it could do... so I tried it, but found I didn't really get on with its ergonomics or relative complexity
Now I have a Doepfer A-150-1. There are no manual controls on it, but I have plenty of stuff to trigger it with. It's also fun for audio rate switching for wavesplicing etc.
