"I am hesitating to buy this plug (Beat Scholar) but Triaz by Wave Alchemy is very attractive.
Any opinions on these 2 products?"

xo is a sample finder with good samples and great fx
triaz is a sample library with a lot of great samples and great sequencing
beatscholar is a great sequencer with comparatively bad samples and fx

did the standalone update come out? i cant quite tell from the homepage "Available in Standalone, VST, AU and AAX formats. TRIAZ is powered by FREE Kontakt Player from Native Instruments. Full version of Kontakt is NOT required"

Not yet afaik.

I'm sure I read that a beta phase was planned before release, but not heard anything about that either.

That just means you can run in standalone kontakt.

Non-kontakt != standalone.

I would love a Triaz VST too, but until that happens, NI released an update for Kontakt 7 in the past few weeks that allows display scaling instruments. I find it very helpful when (no longer) squinting at the Triaz interface.

I bought Triaz and it's excellent sounds. But Im surely not going to use it much until the native version is available. I haven't used Kontakt since version 1 and it doesn't feel as good as eg working with XO. UX is important when in the creative process...

Just a heads up that one of the recent versions of Kontact 7 added interface resizing, so the Triaz & Drumvolution UI's can now be made bigger.

This is limited to 25% steps, but it's better than nothing.
