Just recorded a simple example with these notes, played in this order: C B G A. Firtst, arp on J8 mode, then I switch to ARP Mod

Okay, I'm assuming you're talking about the Arp Mode: "Arp J8", not to be confused with the "J8" Voice Mode in the Master Settings panel on the left. I just tried the same series of notes with the "Arp J8" mode, which seems to remember the order of notes as they are played, whereas the "Arp Mod" mode seems to play notes in order of lowest to highest on the keyboard.waltercruz wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 1:40 am Just recorded a simple example with these notes, played in this order: C B G A. Then there's "Arp J8 Mod" mode, which seems to behave like "Arp J8", remembering the order of notes played, but I'm still unsure about the difference between "Arp J8" and "Arp J8 Mod".
Okay, so those are the Arp Modes. Then we have the Voice modes (N/RR/J8) sort of adding to the confusion. "Round Robin" is pretty obvious. Played notes just cycle through the voice index in a linear fashion: 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.
I noticed something kinda weird with Voice Modes "N" and "J8". If you play one note at a time, regardless of direction, you will just trigger Voice #1 over and over...but if you return to the first note that you played, you will trigger Voice #2 for some reason.
Everything else about Voice Modes "N" and "J8" makes perfect sense. Notes are assigned to a new voice each time you add them to a chord, then it remembers the voice number for that note...until you exceed the number of voices and you start all over again. Simple enough.
But what's the difference between "N" and "J8"? They appear to be exactly the same.

It's about solo mode - N retriggers the amp envelope, and J8 doesn't (legato mode)Sound Author wrote: Wed Dec 14, 2022 5:58 am

Found it for you.zvenx wrote: Fri Mar 05, 2021 11:18 pm From an earlier post, i believe this is what is now:
Seems he included all the options.
Arp J8 behaves like the Jupiter 8,
Arp J8 Mod behaves like the Jupiter 8 except at the high octaves it also goes above the physical keyboard if you choose 3 or 4 octaves (ED and my vote),
and Arp MOD is the original behaviour of J-8 for the last few months.

Well arp j8 mod part anyway.

Same here haha. The only reason I ever know there is an update is because I subscribed to this thread and get notices from it..
And usually that also means all the rest of my TAL stuff got updates too.

Been pretty quiet around here. I just got a Soundforce SFC-8 https://sound-force.nl/?page_id=4789 to use with Tal-J-8 and so far it is pretty fun, almost like having an actual Jupiter 8. Now i wish Patrick would implement (poly!?)aftertouch response.

Indeed. I had brought that up with him, can't hurt for you to ask him about it toomarzzz wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 4:59 pm Been pretty quiet around here. I have asked him on a couple of occasions about that, but he didn't seem too enthusiastic. For the record, Arturia's Jup-8 does respond to polyphonic aftertouch. I have also heard rumors that both GForce and Cherry Audio may be working on their own versions of the J8, we'll see...

Why? The J6 was a good choice for Cherry because it hadn't already been done by others.marzzz wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 7:14 pm I have also heard rumors that both GForce and Cherry Audio may be working on their own versions of the J8, we'll see...

Why not? Truthfully, if there was ONE analog synth that I would love to see reissued (other than the Minimoog, which has been done) it would be the Jupiter 8. I have played the new OB-X8 and am still looking to try the Prophet 10, but there is something about the Jupiter 8 for me.
