I'd never heard of Wasted Audio before seeing it added to the database, so I tried out the WSTD FLANGR.
What a mess! The plugin window isn't even big enough to display the super tiny interface, and it isn't resizable.
The "Speed" (rate ) goes from 0.0Hz to 20.0Hz, with a single decimal place. You really need 3 decimal places, or at least 2, for controlling a flanger with Hz, because most of a flanger's usable range is < 1Hz.
Same for "Intensity" (depth). It is in percent (0% to 100%), but really could use at least one decimal place, since higher rates (> 3Hz) like this plugin reaches need a very low, finely tuned depth.
I do like a lot of the sounds you can get from it, but with the lack of fine numeric control, and the interface size and windowing issues, the control is way too coarse to dial anything in with any kind of precision.

This is off topic. Please take it to a thread in the Effects forum.jamcat wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 6:11 pm I'd never heard of Wasted Audio before seeing it added to the database, so I tried out the WSTD FLANGR.

Weird. I'm running Studio One on a MacStudio M1 and can easily run at 16 and 32 bytes buffers at about 30% more performance than I had on my hackintosh i9-9900k, which I had to keep at 64 to 128 bytes.sqigls wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 5:04 am going lower than 256 chews more CPU. Which is the opposite of what i'm aiming at running native silicon. PLUS, I've discovered the silicon version of Cubase is crashing a shit ton. I very rarely ever have a crash in Rosetta mode. I give up. I'm sticking with Rosetta.
Maybe it's just Cubase on Mac. I've quit using Cubase due clicks and pops on my Mac cheese grater which Steinberg support was unable to solve (version 8.5).

do you run multiple instances of PolyKB ?eagle007 wrote: Sun Apr 30, 2023 7:18 pmWeird. that's the crux of the chug right there. It can bring a CPU to its knees.
I will test more though, and make a mental note of which plugins don't optimise well with native versions. Put my observations in a bit more context. I am happy with the M1 pro chip though, running on Rosetta.
it's powerful and doesn't cook my balls if i need to use it on a flight or whatever.
Great battery performance on smaller projects. I did an 8 hour flight while using Cubase nearly the whole time.

We're excited to announce that Discovery Pro 7.7, OB-Xd 2.13, OPL 2.3, and Vertigo 4.4, are now compatible with ProTools 2023.3 for Apple Silicon. We've been working hard over the past few weeks to update our software development kit (SDK) and deliver AAX Apple Silicon native versions of our products.
Previously, our products were Apple Universal, except for AAX, due to ProTools not being distributed as a Universal Binary. However, with Avid's recent release of ProTools 2023.3 for Apple Silicon, we've been able to update our SDK to make all our products AAX Universal Binary.
We're committed to providing our customers with the latest technology and improving our products' compatibility with the newest platforms. Thank you for choosing our products, and we hope you enjoy this update!

Between this and Reaktor I'm set really in terms of electronic music anyway. The worst straggler to me will always be VSL with Vienna Ensemble Pro, what a total waste of an opportunity. They "could" have spent resources on getting at least the VEP plug in ported to native Apple Silicon which would have been a fantastic stop gap if you still have an old Mac Pro around as a server, but they got caught by the end of eLicenser and still VEP is not Apple Silicon native.tonycore wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 2:40 pm Woo-hoo, Reason! What sorcery is this?
At the time of release of the 12.6 update, every single Rack Extension runs natively on Apple Silicon, even if the Rack Extension is no longer maintained by its original developer.
