Too bad you can’t polychain it for a 16-voice poly for <$800!
Maybe the most surprising thing about that $399 price is that it’s only $100 more than the Pro 1 ($299), a mono synth with no preset storage.

Right!?! I'm kind of glad that you can't poly chain them, GAS would force me to buy two of them.cryophonik wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:43 am Too bad you can’t polychain it for a 16-voice poly for <$800!

Yeah, ProOne was fairly high up on my next-to-buy list...maybe 3rd? No point now, I may as well get the 8-voice instead. I'm sure there will be some differences, but for lack of a better reason, 7 extra voices has to be better than just one. I have been stroking my chin for a while mulling over the pros and cons of a Korg Prologue, but now that's out of the window - Minilogue XD, a Pro800 for the poly (which I don't really need if I'm honest with myself) then I still have cash left for even more GAS.cryophonik wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:43 am Too bad you can’t polychain it for a 16-voice poly for <$800!

Well, I don't know how accurate the Behringer clones are supposed to be, but i've owned both a Pro-1 and a Sixtrack, and both are very different beast. I've sold the Sixtrack quickly.kritikon wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 10:00 am ProOne was fairly high up on my next-to-buy list...[...]No point now, I may as well get the 8-voice instead.
If the Pro800 is close to the Sixtrack (The Sixtrack and the Pro8 are supposed to sound identical), getting both the Pro800 and the Pro1 still make sense

The Behringer Pro 800 has full on midi recall and responds to CCs. This really makes it attractive to me. I have the Pro One and it is in my top three list for mono synths. I've always loved that sound. The Pro 1 has a lot more CV on board for integration with eurorack or semi modular setups. The Behringer Pro 800 outputs in mono which is true to the Pro 600 but a missed opportunity for an 8 voice synth. A stereo chorus pedal will have to do. That price point is insane.

That was my first thought also. Monosynths and polysynths are typically different beasts. Meaning, the poly version of a monosynth does not equal the same thing but with more voices.sinkmusic wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 11:04 amWell, I don't know how accurate the Behringer clones are supposed to be, but i've owned both a Pro-1 and a Sixtrack, and both are very different beast. It will be interesting to see what the unison mode brings for some fat leads and basses but i reckon the Pro One and the Pro 800 will be different beasts, with different use cases.

They already have 50000 (fifty thousand) orders!ghettosynth wrote: Fri Apr 28, 2023 2:50 pm If that's the actual price then they're going to fly off the shelves.

+1 indeed.Stefken wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 12:20 pm Monosynths and polysynths are typically different beasts. Meaning, the poly version of a monosynth does not equal the same thing but with more voices.
Polys are often much tamer and softer.

Behringer posted on their Facebook page that they had 50 000 advance orders from their Super Sellers . These are selected Music store chains that carry their products. (Sweetwater is an example).

“Wow, it's amazing! We have already received more than 50,000 orders from our super partners since the official launch of the PRO-800.
This is a record-breaking number and we’re extremely proud to offer the world's first 8-voice dual-VCO analog synthesizer with patch storage for less than $400.
Even though we could have easily charged double the price, it reflects our commitment to make music equipment affordable for every musician on this planet.”

What's better, 8 pro ones or 1 pro800?
(ignoring that "better" is subjective)
I'd still like a poly that has an entire synth per voice, like the perfourmer (or an Oberheim 4/8 voice... but that's just dreaming

That's an interesting one but I feel it can be settled by scientific rationale. The paradigm that more knobbage is better is a universal constant. Provable more easily than any of that guff wot Einstein theorised and speed of light constant etc. Without checking absolutely on webz pics, I'm fairly metaphysically sure that 8 X ProOnes have way more knobbage than 1 Pro800.T-CM11 wrote: Sat Apr 29, 2023 3:27 pm

Cogito ergo is.
Sadly, 8 ProOnes are the same price as every other competitors' 8 voice poly analogues. 1 Pro800 costs the same as around 8 knobs on competitors' poly analogues give or take a random confidence interval inside my comedy of errors.
Conclusion. Dunno WTF I'm talking about. Cheap as chips though.
