You can Thank your Government and the Companies for Hiding Cheap Labour and Slavery in the name of Profit.
It is not possible without supporting China, but you can look for alternatives and especially support regional companies if possible.

But seriously baby milk from China :? My baby has received Demeter quality from Germany and / or Switzerland.
Yes not All Baby Milk Powder offcourse but a Company in New Zealand Called Fonterra where they claim that their Farmers own is not the whole truth and China Owns 43% of that Company And they where affected by the Sanlu Scandal (Poisoned Baby Milk Powder).

And i guess there are more Companies we don't know about That China owns a big part of too.

Well said. I too support the current thing. I also stand with milk.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

it's a difficult road to go down, aside from the obvious, electronic parts being made in china. many companies that say the build locally, will get things pretty much finished in china, all the boards soldered and populated, all enclosures manufactured in china, then shipped in parts, put board on base, screw together with a top part "hand built in the uk".

also, many of the same folk looking to avoid chinese made products, are often the same people complaining about how expensive moog is compared to behringer...

buy stuff because it's made well.
just because the chinese government are arseholes, doesn't mean every chinese person is evil! they deserve employment same as anyone.(who wants it...)

I dunno, Taiwan is the centre for semiconductors and Taiwan is NOT China. Probably all the plastic bits, though.
kritikon wrote: Thu Mar 17, 2022 12:26 pmMaybe non-Chinese robots can solder chips onto a board better than Chinese robots? But I bet the non-Chinese robots are made in China...
Or maybe some people simply don't wish to support, even tacitly, a totalitarian regime guilty of ongoing crimes against humanity and who are being unacceptably aggressive wherever it suits them?
Honestly, I'm surprised anyone would need to ask.

It's not an all or nothing proposition. You can take a stand without having to cut off your nose to spite your face. And I doubt baby formula comes from China because there is a massive racket sending it from Australia to China. It's so bad that most supermarkets have limits on purchasing and it's been like that for more than a decade.

No, you can thank people for being too cheap to support their local industries. Yes, companies are motivated by profit but if people didn't buy Chinese goods, they wouldn't be selling them.

Anyway, IK Make Uno and Uno Pro in Italy. I assume its the same for their other hardware products as it seems ot be something of which they are quite proud.

Would be interested in a list of current synths not made in china.

I'll get started:
Korg prologue 8/16 (Japan)
Access Virus TI2 (Germany)
Waldorf (Germany)
Dont't know if this question makes sense to me. Is it technical or political motivated?

Technical in China they are in the meanwhile able to pretty scale the quality. At least not worse than average US-stuff. I mean iPhones are produced in China and they are regarded as good apple quality.

Today when you go along all stages of buliding a product, it't not easy to have China not involved, starting from raw materials, vanishes over cables, screws, knob etc. Electronic parts are rather mainly rather from Japan, South Korea or Taiwan then

I would say quality is not a question of where it's produced. It's a question of the product design and definition of production process. I guess you could get a body for synth for 10$ or you can get one for 100$. It's all about specification, tolerances an quality management. At the end the company who takes account for the product, defines the quality then.

If it is political. Yeah don't know. If I would drive it further then, I shouldn't drive a car, because gas is coming from autocracys also.

You don't see any difference in a product wholly made in china and a product that has a chinese made part in it?

My Prologue 16 proudly displays 'made in Japan' on the back. Other Korgs are made elsewhere.
The web page also says the ARP 2600 is: "Proudly Designed and Made in Japan".
So yea, their higher-end stuff.
