Will do. There is a bunch more coming for sure but time table is a bit unclear as of right now. I still haven't heard back from FabFilter about the possible MPE update (they haven't even confirmed if it will actually happen).

Maybe I can do a kind of "alpha" test for some of the presets in a few weeks? Note that they will be unorganized and messy though.
If you can give the word from KVR forum, CLAP support would be so much appreciated...

Nice to hear that your new sounds are on the way. What did you decide finally ? 100% sounds light and usable as I understand is your preference ? Or did you include some "big demo" sound ?

I have a mix of a bit of everything. I've been trying to learn what people consider "good presets" and naturally that is a very broad spectrum of stuff. Twin 3 definitely needs a whole bunch of very basic sounds so probably 20 - 30 will be very simplistic.. but then again I can't help myself so sometimes sounds end up stupidly complex.

I'm still waiting for the info/news on possible MPE support and am trying to find the funding for an Expressive E Osmose or some other MPE controller so that I can start working on MPE compatible presets (and possibly upgrade a bunch of the factory content for MPE too). However, that's not going to be "quick" work as I need to familiarize myself with the whole thing first, if it ever happens. We'll see. I hope they do implement MPE.

just a thought: we all have multiple synth plugins, and they're all full of 'basic sounds'. so it's the more distinct, unique sounds that would (imho) make for a great soundset, sounds that play up a plugins specific character...

Don't be afraid to heavily raid/borrow from your own (and others) back catalogue of great-sounding presets from Twin 2's libraries (if not for 'straight updates' from v2 to v3 (which wouldn't be a bad thing), then at least for 'inspiration').

There's a reason many regard Twin 2's presets as great and very usable for many different types of musical genres. And a big part of that was because the great factory collection covered such a broad selection of sounds (whether they could be regarded as basic, or otherwise isn't so important, imho.). It was more the fact that it was very easy to quickly cycle through each instrument category and quickly find something very close to what you needed for a particular bass line, melody lead, synth pad, or Keys, etc.

The sheer amount of different sounding presets in each instrument category and subcategory was very impressive and a great resource of sounds to work with.

What I mean to say is, I don't think Twin 3's factory preset library need be all that different to its predecessors. The updates to the synth and workflow itself are improvements enough to warrant its existence and attract a purchase for new customers.

But as for the factory sound library, that should try to cover a wide (even generic) sound base. The more fancy stuff is fine, but would probably be better saved for separate bespoke preset packs, rather than the synth's stock sound library.

I did reach out to FF about making presets/sound banks for it but they weren't interested.

I’m not above using presets. I do all the time, but I don’t really get people who are willing to wade through hundreds of presets but not spend a few minutes learning a bit about synthesis. At least enough to make new presets from existing ones. It’s not like Twin 3 is some exotic new synthesis technology. At its heart, it’s a subtractive VA synth with a clever filter type.

Also, when you learn the basics of synthesis, it’s like learning to read. You don’t have to relearn it with every new book. What you learn about Twin 3 will aid you in understanding all VA instruments. You just have to get a handle on specifics, but that’s usually easy.

that may work for you, but we're not all the same. my interest is in making music, and i like scrolling thru presets to find inspiration. often, too, i will write a part, then scroll thru presets and change the sound. love doing that.

my brother had classic synths (OBX, arp odyssey, juno 60, ad infinitum), and i learned on those. i even created some sounds on the OBX that were used on hit records (he played the sessions).

it's an age-old argument; you don't have to know how to build a piano to play one. and i love that i have thousands of presets over a bunch of synth plugins at my fingertips... so i can make music.

I can totally understand and I'm actually a bit jealous of the "just want to make music" crowd. I wish I could switch my brain into that mode and keep it there but alas, I just can't. I like fiddling with things, even if they don't necessary need any tweaking. It's sometimes a boon but can also be a bane.

this describes me.

(but would not have been able to state it so succinctly)

I am trying to get along with Twin3 as it gives interface Scaling over Twin 2

But it seems there is no way in the GUI to sweep through filter cutoff or resonance with one hand.

What am i missing here?
I also tried using my Novation Mk2s endless decoders relative mode, but it seems Twin 3 has no support for those?

So how do people finetune and find sweet spots with Twin3.
Am i left to recording a sequence and looping, then using two hands to adjust a single paramenter?

You grab the knob and tweak it? I don't understand what the problem is

The Problem ist that afaik there are no knobs for single parameters, and to adjust only frequency or peak i need to use the Mouse and Alt on the keyboard.
