Better. Snare seems too far back though, is it reverb or just too low still? I much prefer the snare at 1.12. That's the right volume and more upfront.
I tried to make the snare even louder and imo it distracted the rhymthm... :?

try to do the following - listen to the kick and try to count...

then really care for when exactly the snare is coming in

listen to what rhythm the bassline is giving...

there are some chords in the background as well which follow rhymthmically the bassline...

listen to the vox & the lead in the background..

- this tune is really polyrhythmical as shit.

I dunno - I am just afraid to kill the groove :?

thanks :-)

but what about the changed intro? :?
listened closely and compared.
well, the changed intro is better in some aspects, but the vocals sound quite unpleasent.

so, keep the new introsounds, but take the old vocal back (exept for that "here it comes", keep that as "small" as in the new version) and simply thin it out a bit for the intro, so it's a little more floating above the sounds...
will do - thanks :-)

Firts of all, definitely a candidate for radio play.

I'm listening to both version in my DAW now and:
-I love the girl's voice hence I'd prefer the original intro without fuzz. But adding some sort of gentle spaced out FX to the intro would be a good idea.

- the lead melody riff is too loud in the second version. It also kills the (fuzzy) pads too much. In the first version it seats in the mix much better and the pads are clearer.

- the delay-less vocal mix in the last chorus is much nicer ( v.2)

- the claps are better in v.2

-"here it comes" sounds better in v.2

I love the very first 9 seconds of this tune. Very electronica-like. I was expecting to hear "we are the robots" or something. LOL. I'd expand on this idea and do a late 70's electronica influenced remix ( just for a few die hard electronica fanatics on KvR :D )

o.k. - I uploaded a new version - the changes are:

- reduced the distortion on the intro-vox
(cheers, Forever Sun :-) )

-raised the overall drum-level (so that the kick is at the old level) and then changed the snare slightly
(longer release) and raised its gain.
Is it o.k. like this now, Armadillo? :-)

-changed the lead back to a similar sound as in thze first version and raised its delay to get it more in the mix without having to reduce its gain too much

- the lead was doubled up with the strange lead-sound
which is the chorus - took it away because it imo disturbed more than it helped to fatten up.

-the intro-beat was added to the last chorus - took it away but added it to the b-part of the middle lead-section.

- slightly raised the gain of the chords-pad
(back to where it was in the original version)

Yes, I love the intro-sound. :-D

It's a Synth1-arpeggio going through Bufferoverride. 8)

(the other strange sound which comes in later during the intro is Crystal)

ok. I can't keep correcting you, I've got other things to do :hihi:

Yep, keeps getting better.

I now know why the kick + snare problem has been raised....................there is no hihat. Give it a hihat to make it flow more. But the kick and snare is good now though.

My only other complaint is that when the vocal kicks in the drums seems off. 1/4 or something :? I can't really follow the drums at the beginning.

Ah....she says "high voltage in the air". And all the time I thought she sang "I want it in the air".

....it's still a bit short IMO.

Wonderful song. I especially like the part from 0'42, lovely voice and lovely played around that voice...
and then at 1'43 when the synth-sound gets over to those, - well, marvellous weird sounds...

In fact I even liked the beginning, (first seconds before the voice sings on) of version 1 more, as it's a bit more "rough". The doubling of the lead with a kind of chorused version is a wonderful idea!. Already EIN OHRWURM, Jens... Very fine song that I'll compare with the Cd-songs...

I'm still thinking about a way to make it longer... :?

about the hit-hat: I usually hate using hi-hats
- I grew up in the 80s and in the first half of the 80's there have whole albums without any cymbals been recorded.
(Peter Gabriel was the first one in 1980 and then acts such as tears for fears followed)

I rarely manage to programm them in a way that sounds good :?

(the same goes for snares - I tend to use claps instead...)

Dunno about the kick being wrong. :?

Anyway: thansk again fro your help. :-D

I now reread what you wrote and noticed that I probably misunderstood you..

Are you speaking about the intro?

If so: yes , it's purposely off-beat...

She sings 'in the beginning it's always a little strange' which is about being on a dance-floor and longing to dance and to be part of the 'crowd' but not quite feeling comfortable and not yet being in the right mood thus having a hard time to really follow the groove.
(Bina (the singer) and me we're both 'dance-hall-addicts)

Then she sings 'and here it comes' which means the feel for the groove when you finally manage to really give in to it and just let your body react.

In the last four bars of the intro the weirdness of the rhythm gets gradually corrected and shifted 'on
beat' ;-) :-D

almost perfect now 8)

just the snare sounds strange, soundwise it seems not to fit into it.
maybe cut it earlier and distort the sound a bit more?

ah anyway, a great song just got better :D
but it's so much fun to comment on your stuff, cause you really listen to us

 it's so great to get all your help  :hail:

I really need to get this tune as kick-ass as possible - that's really important for me...

I've been working now for almost three years continously at this TorpedoTorpedo project and now I really need and want to get my demo out - it's about time... :-D

I've made a new version - changes:

- added a phaser and reverb to the intro-vox

- added a bit of kick to the intro for clarifying the beat

- (i Think I) found and inobstrusive way of adding hi-hat (I think you were right, Armadillo - thank you :-D )

- changed the snare again - is it good now for everyone? :?

- lowered the gain for the strange lead-sound in the part before the last chorus to get the chorus-kick heavier...

- changed the mastering slightly

Comments?

don't forget your ancient ghosts when assembling a modern demo ;)
still love that song 8)

about that new version: better and better :D
you could still work on that snare, it could be a big dirtier or (warning: german words) generell gröber, nicht zwangsweise agressiver aber halt massiver (german ends here), besides that: wow :D

intro is perfect now, and i love that "moment of peace" when the leadsequence stops the first tame and fades into the singing again.
