I just bought a new desk which has 8u of rack space that will go (mostly) unused.

Have you ever found anything cool, or clever, or even useful to go in unused rack space?

I have a couple of magnets that could go on steel panels, but other than that...?

You could be boring and just get blank filler panels - they’re cheap.

Or, maybe find a white dry erase board in about the same size and attach some rack ears to it so you can write down notes to yourself, sketch out ideas, draw smiley faces or whatever when you’re in a creative slump,…

Or, do you have anything sitting around that you could attach rack ears to?

I wonder if you could mount a tablet in there and get some MIDI/DAW controller apps that stay connected to your computer as a secondary touch screen?

The 8 units are divided in two blocks of 4 units each? Also, the are the rails vertical or are they meant for sloped mount (aka “drawers/shelves are out of question”)?

Then I guess you could put some of these in. Not sure how exactly how big they are, but they look like 2 units? Which means you could have 4 of them - 32 voices.

I like the rack format. I’ve got an AxeFX 3 mk2, Furman power conditioner, UAD Apollo, Modal 002R and an ATC-X. I guess I could also rack up my REV2 and M, but I don’t.
