Hey, I'm looking for loops of rides only.
Like then ones you have in Stylus RMX's "groove elements", but good ones..

Anyone know of a sample cd with ride loops?

Thanks.

Haven't come across any myself. Every now and then I find a loop labelled "ride only", but it's never TRULY -only- the ride.

Perhaps a good place to look would be to the MIDI world instead, where you can just extract the element you need and apply it to a drum multi-sample that you have around somewhere.

Not quite the same, I know. ;)

I second the midi option ,i,ve done some very convincing ride work by mapping slightly different ride samples over an octave or so worth of keys and slightly adjusting some parameters ,such as setting filter resonance to be modulated by velocity ,or some slight tuning and volume differences.

Add some subtle panning and adjust the amp envelopes so some keys have a little more sustain and release than others.

I have fooled experienced drummers and others with this method and you should too, if source samples of sufficient quality are used.(i always liked the cymbals on The Drum Doctor Does Drums or Bob Clearmountain,s stuff in this kind of situation.)

Cheers

the main thing when using ride cymbal samples is to overlap em, reverb, velocity var., and give em swing (ta-ta-tsch)

also u can highpass a loop and just use the cymb portion of the perc

imo
