I'm not sure what you're all talking about. About the fact that each DAW has its own advantage and that Bitwig users, for example, are always head and shoulders above the rest in built-in modulation, and Ableton has an illegally powerful Max/MSP, everyone already knows. Now DIRECT CLAP support is one of these advantages, but unlike the unilateral end of VST2 support initiated by Steinberg, CLAP is becoming free and every DAW developer can (and I hope will) add support for this format to their studio.
I would be on your side if CLAP-synth was chosen when there was no Ildaeil wrapper that allows you to use Apricot in any DAW. And Apricot has powerful built-in modulators. As I said above, many virtual studios have their own powerful unique advantages that make them superior to others in certain parameters. But the main thing is that each of us this month got the opportunity to create our own music using an amazing synthesizer and present it in the best community in the world!
The next one may be a synthesizer in which little is modulated, or other that, with incredible modulation capabilities, will be a piece of shit, or another that will not work for a third of the participants, or (ohoho, how unfair) another Hardware month. Last month I would have had to change the OS if I wanted to enter, in #167 not every DAW had a built-in synthesizer, again an injustice... Everyone can take part in this month, and everyone even has a choice between a free DAW with direct access to CLAP, or a familiar DAW with a slight limitation in the form of unavailability of external modulation, but everyone can take part!
So I just urge you to remember that one of the main qualities of OSC is the ability to inspire musicians to be creative, and the fact that this is basically a difficult challenge and not an easy walk is one of the main inspiring factors!
Let's be inspired by the possibilities, accept the shortcomings as they are, and make the best music we will be capable of this month! :phones: :tu:

I wish j knew about the clap bridge last month
This synth, even with the clap bridge is hardly using any resources, even with an old computer :)
As I don't use automation I'm not too fussed & this possibly explains much about my entries , however multiple instances of the same synth sound with different setting will give anyone variation ;)
Plus, it's not called One Synth Challenge for nowt :D
Now, all i need to find is inspiration & time :tu:

As matter of fact that indeed will not stop me to make a track with Apricot in Ableton Live
(with which I never used MAX tools for the OSC, BTW). I prefer the restriction of "no automation/modulation of parameters" for this round than to use a different DAW.
Even though at first I was annoyed by that, actually the more the limitations the more happy I am.
I could even do the OSC with standalone only synth, if asked.

Perfect, it's my chance to test the skills with Reaper

The Synth is fun. Here's already a little first things thrown together: https://soundcloud.com/p-e-t-e-r-h/osc- ... n=campaign

As an old fan boy of energyXT:
There is also EXT64 beta which supports clap plugins.
Didn't yet check how well it really works with the new format (e.g. automation), but might also be an option for those without Bitwig or Reaper, since the 1.0 beta is available for free here:

Heads up for people not on Discord - OnTrackP discovered that there is also an AU version for Mac users.

I absolutely agree with IV!'s post. Every month is different and every synth, DAW, OS has its pros and cons. Last month (Octasine) there was no AU version, and since I'm a Logic Pro user, I had to either let it go or find another way. So the first time I tried a wrapper plugin to use VSTs in Logic Pro which I maybe would have never tried, if I wasn't forced to. This time I'm lucky, because there is an AU version. Instead the regular VST users have to find a solution. I'm sure everyone will find a workaround. :)

Seems the AU version is broken. It either crashes Logic when trying to reload the project or doesn't retain its patch parameters.

Could you send a copy of the crash report to me?

Where do I find the crash report?
I'm using Logic X Pro 10.7.6 under Mac OS 12.4 on an iMac (Retina 5K, i5, 27-inch, 2019)

In the crash dialog could you click "Report..." and then send me a copy of the provided information?

The is no dialog. Logic just closes without any trace. Sometimes it even properly opens the project, just the synth settings being way off (resulting in no meaningful sound).

Ah, that is unfortunate. I'll try to reproduce the crash this evening. Unfortunately the AU version of the plugin has not been as rigorously tested as the other versions. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon!

I have released an update, version v1.1.9, that hopefully fixes these issues. Please let me know if it works/doesn't.
