One of my favourite singer/songwriters since I was a kid listening to my older brother's LPs.
Sundown, ya better take care….
Thank you, Mr. Lightfoot.

Mr. Lightfoot was on my teenage shuffle playlist a lot.
I heard you talking in the night
That's right, yes I heard ya call
Though I could hardly hear the name you spoke
It's a name I don't recall

Wow, that's a huge loss. So many timeless classics from this legend. RIP Gordon.

The guy is a legend in Canada, should be a legend everywhere.
Unlike many artist, he tended to prefer to write from his true life experiences and emotions, and that made the difference.
One of the all time great song writers.
Canada has given us:
Joni Mitchell
Neil Young
Leonard Cohen
Buffy Sainte-Marie
Bruce Cockburn
Randy Bachman and Burton Cummings
Robbie Robertson and the Band
Alanis Morissette
k.d. lang
Sarah McLachlan
Paul Anka
McGarrigle Sisters
Rush
Oscar Peterson
Gordon Lightfoot.......

I heard the Lightfoot albums as they came out. I haven't been able to listen to him a lot since my brother died, because the association between them is too strong. Him and the Beatles I've loved since I was a kiddie.

There is a fairly recent documentary that covers his career and goes into the songs and how they relate to his life.Bombadil wrote: Tue May 02, 2023 7:31 pm I heard the Lightfoot albums as they came out. They go deep into the woman Sundown was written about the the details.
Lots of footage of Gordan threw his career, including recent stuff.
You might want to check it out.
