My problem is I can find something to like about almost anything.
I have these drum modules and I love the way they sound but I rarely use them, except to maybe to make a one-shot sample. I have a case of just Flight of Harmony modules and I do like to make drones with that system but I never record anything.
I'm also thinking about replacing most of my intellijel stuff with a Cascadia.

Modular grid hasn't been very helpful. I have my modules strewn across several cases, so it's difficult to mix and match. Maybe I should make one big rack in MG and put all of my modules there to try to arrange things.

I keep seeing the 4ms PEG go for fairly cheap prices ($165-$175)… how unique is it?

I prefered Tides to PEG but then two Tides would be much larger than a PEG. When it came out it was really popular... like a tempo syncable version of Maths! It's great for tempo synced modulations and triggers.

Can Tides do the same syncable modulation?

I have Tides in Hector to explore, so I better get on that later today.

EDIt: Found this: https://modwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic. ... %20cycling.

If I got one, it would be kept in one of the Pods, but I’m thinking the best idea is to play around with two Tides on Hector, and maybe explore buying PEG for Softube’s Modular (if its on sale).

I feel that way about the two analog Erica Synths drum modules I bought - their kick and hi hat.
Although initially I thought they sounded good they don't actually offer an awful lot of variation and I now prefer to use my 1010 Bitbox Micro for sampled kick and hats. If I sell them that frees up both case space and funds to put towards a dedicated drum sequencer or something else I'm actually wanting to use. I think I got all hung up on that "analog good, digital bad" path that eurorack users get funnelled down when it should be "sounds good = good".

Yep! In fact it syncs to signals all the way into audio rate so you can use it kinda like a PLL/pitch tracker with sub-division and wave shape controls.

I've fallen into a few traps like that. I got into a "need to be able to write a whole song in the rack" mindset that led me to buy some things which weren't really that useful in the context of how I actually use my modular.

At one point I was trying to get my whole modular to act like an Elektron box, with P-locks and the ability to change sequences via program change messages, through the Select Bus system. I kinda knew that would end up being a mistake in the long run but it was a good learning experience.

Yeah, definitely find the biggest lesson is “horses for courses”. I spent ages, and a not inconsiderable sum of money, trying to get polyphony in the rack when all my poly synths sound way better than anything I came up with. I think you have to go through these things just to get it out of your system (both meanings).

Tides does syncing to stuff very well -- it's the one point where I think it's stronger than Just Friends, which always treats the inputs as triggers. But I do prefer JF overall.

I had a Mini PEG for a while and just didn't get along with it. I wound up using it as a basic LFO most of the time. I'd really rather trigger envelopes from a repeating clock.

You can say that again.

This kind of stuff becomes a hobby (rabbit hole) unto itself.

Okay, so what I'm thinking now is that I will consolidate the MDLR case and the two intellijel cases shown in this image...

...into this.

I'm not sure how it will work out but I'll spend a month or two with the downsized system and see how I feel.

What are those modules in the small case to the right? Not going to lie, I'm like a magpie on those knobs.
