Hey I want a 303 to make acid sounds that evolve over a track, looking for that classic sound and just a great sounding emu. Any suggestions for the best in plugin land?

i like Phoscyon 2, ABL3 and Roland's Cloud TB303 (maybe the Roland one is my favourite from them all).

Phoscyon offers some nice additions!

i think you cant go wrong with any of them.

abl and phoscyon sound fantastic. abl3 imho is easier to use. phosyon has more abilities. I sold abl3 bc i dont need two emulations and using phoscyon and behringer td3 when i am the mood for hardware.

Behringer TD-3. Real analog hardware, very affordable ($99 on JRRShop), and almost indistinguishable from a real 303.

Hi, Phoscyon 2 is the best emulation because not only sounds good but it also have amazing sequencer and randomizer.
Cheers

Not a lot of difference between ABL3 and Phoscyon in terms of emulation. I have both but pretty well stopped using ABL once I got Phoscyon2. The distortions on board make it just that bit better - they suit the 303 sound so well, yet I generally really don't even like sw distortion. The other FX are a good match too, but I wouldn't cross the road specifically for them. Up to 4 bar sequencer is something I didn't initially think would be a gamechanger, but it is, I love it. I haven't used the randomizer as much as I should, but it's superb. Also the extra modded stuff can give it that little extra edge - I often tweak the attack envelope to give it some extra fluidity and squelch. It's subtle but it's a superb addition when it really bites. Phoscyon2 is a bit more towards a Devilfish or TD3MO - little extras that add up to more than the sum of its parts.

You can't go wrong with either though. I find phoscyon2 gives more joy just for the sake of playing, whereas ABL3 more of a tool you use to get a specific aim. The actual ease of use of sequencer is possibly slightly edged by ABL3?

I'm a shameless phoscyon fanboy. Abl3 or phoscyon i guess.
Phoscyon gave me that specific flavour of acid sound that i could only approach with other synths.
Like jesse trying to copy walter white :D
Also D16 seem to be a rather small company of talented and passionate people, so i'd rather support them.

I have phoscyon2 and abl3 and prefer abl3

Have ABL, Phoscyon and Roland TB303.
Use and love all of them and occasionally use them all on the same track :D

Phoscyon 2

+1 for Phoscyon 2. Most complete & extension.

But, if you’ve got UVI Falcon, this was pretty cool tutorial on making something a bit more custom:

And if you’re on the iPad, Pure Acid and Troublemaker Modded are very nice too.
