I filed a support ticket with v11 Intro and was told that's they way they do it, don't move anything. Good to see native M1 support finally added, but curious if they've fixed this issue.
No, you can’t - easily. But using symbolic links you can move them anywhere you want.

Thanks. Yes I could, but that is such an inelegant solution to an own-goal type of problem. It's not like they aren't aware. Three years ago the response I got from Reason Studios support was, "You're far from the only one with this concern (me included)." The lack of developer consideration for customers in a situation like this is a real turn off for me on a product I'm being asked to spend in the range of $200 for. If they still offered Intro, I'd probably put up with it.

How long is the reason 12 deal on ?
Is it the same as reason + ?

It's been an issue far longer than 3 years ago, friend. We've been asking to be able to custom choose our RE installation location since Rack Extensions appeared 11 years ago. :dog:  Still, nothing. So symbolic links it is. In the grand scheme of things, it's trivial IMHO. Much more important items that require dev time that I'd rather they focus on (browser improvements, sequencer improvements for the standalone DAW, etc).

Looks like the 40% off coupon says "May Sale", so maybe until May 31? Though I wouldn't risk and wait if you're kicking the tires.

I prefer not to throw good money after bad at developers who disrespect me as a customer. I do appreciate your response and your position.

Hmmm... we seem to have vastly different ideas when it comes to disrespect, but that's cool.

Whao, that's a hard stance!

Out of curiosity, do you have the same with other vendors? Do you have some good success stories to share of vendors changing stuffs because you ask?

I’m a developer and occasionally come across bugs in third party systems I support in addition to things my team created ourselves. Most memorable one was reporting a bug about a cloud based forms system, you were supposed to be able to put something like TODAY in a minimum date to stop people selecting dates before today, but the bug meant you couldn’t select today, only days after today. Put in a workaround to TODAY-1, which did the job, and raised a bug report. They came back, closed the case simply saying something to the effect of “The bug has been there so long that all our other customers have put in workarounds that would be broken if we fixed the bug”.
I felt like I’d walked onto the set of the movie Brazil.

Are you safe?

I'm not going to try and justify my position beyond what follows, and it's a lot more nuanced than I can get across here, but it's definitely not about vendors changing something because I ask. Clearly the request has been asked of them for over a decade by more customers than little ole me.

I just prefer not to do business with developers that are so tin eared to what their customers are requesting that they can't find a way to fix it after years (apparently at least 11). The conscientious thing for an audio developer to do today is ask customers where they want to store GoBs of data, and if installing a plugin, ask which versions I want to install. None of this is hard for them to do. In my experience, conscientious and responsive developers are that way about almost every aspect of their product and relationship with their customers, and the opposite is usually also true. I can set the bar anywhere I want in the customer relationship and vote with my money. It doesn't feel like a hard stance when I'm being asked to pay hundreds of dollars.

Not trying to bash on Reason as a product. I actually found value in it and now that the've uplifted to M1, wondered whether I should reconsider. I am bashing Reason Studios as a development organization.

Everyone has his/her priorities. For me it is a friendly protection (getting rid of codemeter) :)

I'm satisfied with Reason now and sure would upgrade and buy more racks as I can use them not only inside Reason, so they are better investment than buying into closed system like Ableton Live or other native plugins of other DAWs.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Would be pretty good if we’re getting Objekt for free next week, compensation for our patience as loyal, regularly upgrading Reasonites.

How do we get rid of codemeter now ? And does it matter ?
I don’t like to have unuseful program in my computer, and I would be so glad removing this horrible system and never see it again (I had some issues with it) but maybe it’s not a big deal.
