Not a singer? Want an AI-generated Grimes to be your singer? Willing to go 50-50 on any royalties for commercial use featuring her voice?
If yes, you can do all that here:

It's simple: just don't make any money.

So if you hired a singer to sing on your tune, assuming that you wrote the lyrics and melody line, that singer would not be legally eligible for %50 of your royalties.
With this App, you are still writing the lyrics and melody, but are legally required to give Grimes half your royalties despite the fact that she didn't write a note or actually sing on your tune.
Diaper costs for her baby, Exa Dark Sideræl, must have gone up.......

She was in a relationship with Elon Musk. They have a son called "X Æ A-Xii" and a daughter called “ Exa Dark Sideræl”. The things parents do to their kids!
Elon has fallen on hard times recently so I suspect she needs the money.

I think the forest behind the trees that doesn't get discussed a lot here because they're not VSTi's is that we're now pretty much at the point where you can get a virtual singer using AI. Now, Grimes is just trying to protect her likeness so no one else is doing this with her voice without her getting compensated or permission, and she's dealing with that in a novel way, but this is just a sign of where we are today in terms of this technology, and where we're headed.
"Hey, I wrote this song, and I could totally hear Freddie Mercury singing this, and we could do some really killer harmonies on the chorus." That's probably a thing that can be done today. Or will be real soon. And there are all kinds of "likeness" issues that will go along with that.
So, there's quite a bit to discuss here other than just dissing Grimes and/or making jokes about her and Elon's kids names. Which, BTW, I'm not opposed to any of that. But there's more to the story that's relevant to us as musicians.

apologies, my intent wasnt to diss, but an honest questionFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Thu May 04, 2023 7:39 pm I think the forest behind the trees that doesn't get discussed a lot here because they're not VSTi's is that we're now pretty much at the point where you can get a virtual singer using AI. i did also say, it was more about me than her.
as for the product, i personally see no issue.
as you say, its going to happen, and id rather the person who is being cloned voice wise, is the one getting any money.
i also did mean that if you are using someones voice who is leagues above your own status, it can be a boost for you.
if i put feat grimes in a song title on youtube, thats going to get views.
many listeners who are fans of hers, will see this article, be looking for tracks using it, they wont have an issue with it being ai, as its still her doing it. so it still has the grimes connection.
im likely to sell a lot more downloads than i would, with the same modular tune without her on it.
im making 50% of something i never would have before...
it would be different, if she released the software, then went after people who had used it, teh offer is all up front, its up to me whether i decide to or not.
