Not the 32 bit, 64 bit or the standalone version.
It is mentioned in this tread and I am experiencing the same behaviour for BA-1.
It's working perfectly well on my laptop. How would a plugin even know it was on a laptop?
It doesn't!
But there might be something in the generic drives used by HP or MS Windows causing this.
There has been mentioned that this could very well be a Video driver issue, missing the openGL drivers, as they aren't supported on this laptop. ( or something in that line )

Cheers!

I used a CS01 extensively in the 80s. BA1 does not sound like a CS01. In this case I am not going to say "in my opinion" because its so blantantly dissimilar. BA1 sounds nice but its no CS01.

I have a similar memory of extensively using a MK1 and MKII CS01 for some years during the actual 80s, and I'd say (from memory) BA-1 is doing the right kinds of things (avoiding all the extra features, of course) - but I couldn't rely on that memory. What a CS01 sounds like, and what my memory recalls of what it sounds like from playing it 30+ years ago aren't necessarily the same. ;)

(Especially as I was mostly playing it through it's speaker, so...)

However, I do have some old Kontakt samples of the CS01, and while I can't use that for checking things like the filters etc, I compared the oscillator waves at least, and they were much brighter in the samples. I could use the Tone controls in BA-1 to get closer, but BA-1 was still not as bright.

So I would be interested in someone doing a basic YouTube comparison in terms of oscillators, filters and envelopes etc, not for cork sniffing, but just out of interest...

IMO cork sniffing is perfectly fine, if the company says it's an exact emulation, a sendup of is cool, but when companies claim it's more than a send up, it's up for grabs. With that in mind this is their initial blurb on their site:
BA-1 is our modern re-imagination of a cultish 1982 analog synth
So they aren't trying to claim it's a copy, just inspired by. I'm fine with it not sounding exact, if they admit they aren't trying to model it perfectly.

Surely that's a good thing? It's not like the CS01 was everyone's favourite at the time, is it? I remember playing with one in a shop and being baffled why anyone would be interested in it. OTOH, I quite like BA-1.

I assume Chick Corea and John Medeski like(d) it because it's a buzzy little single oscillator synth that cuts through. Plus it fit perfectly on top of Medeski's Rhodes when I saw him perform with it. But yes, perhaps not the average KVRer's cup of tea.

I suppose it's confusion as a result of the marketing hype. They sell it for its CS01 roots but it really stands on it's own. It's a decent sounding synth and good value for the intro sale price. To me, it just doesn't sound like a CS01. As a synth, it's a bit too redundant to synths I already have and the kinds of sounds I like to use. But I totally get anyone who likes it and bought it - it sounds good!

I on the other hand, are getting that true CS01 vibes i haven't been able to get with any other synth. I think I've tried them all by now.
I do agree about it missing some stuff if looking at it as a copy of the real thing though. For example, the real hw have this small pulse in the reset-phase of the saw, which the BA-1 don't. (Makes the VCO buzzing, brighter in a sense)

It's the closest thing that totally gets me in to that certain territory though, and I'm ever so grateful of that!

What you're feeling is nostalgia, nothing more. CS-01 was a bit of a joke in the day, nobody got a "vibe" from it (unless it wasn't properly earthed). I still can't get my head around the fact anyone likes any old piece of shit synth. There is literally nothing from my 20 or so years with hardware that I have even the slightest interest in having again, either in its original form or as a VSTi. It was basically really expensive garbage compared to what we can have ITB today and I have absolutely no nostalgia for the hours of back-breaking work involved in setting it up and tearing it down every time I had a gig. Absolutely everything I have done of worth, everything I look back fondly upon, I have done since we moved ITB.

I have Noisefirm NF-01 Classic Synthesizer for Kontakt (made with samples) and it sounds very different to Baby Audio BA-1.

Waiting for the update that fixes the FL Studio export problem.

I also observed that when a BA-1 pattern clip is placed at the very beginning of the Playlist timeline, there is a weird sound that happens at the initial moment (within the first bar/measure) when I press play. If I move the pattern clip little further, the weird sound doesn't come and clip plays fine.

EDIT: I already bought BA-1 few days ago.

You mean the issue that I dont seem to have with it?
I'm running BA-1 licensed and I couldn't hear anything out of the ordinairy.

If you can create a small test in FL-Studio , export that 8 bars
Then send me the FLP and I can run the same project on my system to see if there's any difference.

I edited my previous post to mention that I am now using the full/paid version (previously I was on the demo).

Thanks, here's the FLP.

I observed two things. First, the problem only happens whenever you hit the play button (spacebar key) or whenever you jump around the play head with your mouse. Secondly, the weird sound is less obvious with some presets and more with others.

In the test project, I have the default patch BA-1 loads with, where the weird sound can be easily heard within the first bar after playback starts or you move the play head with mouse.

I didn't see this one before -- sorry. This is not standard behavior for sure. Is there any chance you can email us at support@babyaud.io with your systems specs and a description of the issue? Then we will look into a fix for this week's update.

I've been blocked completely from entering the download site. Windows says it's been reported as an unsafe site that may steal financial info, and/or has malware. Anyone else run into this? I'm going to assume it's incorrect. Strange.
Yes, we're aware of this. It's related to the Microsoft Edge browser and you should be fine if you just use Chrome instead. Microsoft has a history of labelling links potential malware when they're not – especially if there's suddenly a lot of download activity. It even happened to the Adobe Suite at some point. We've obviously submitted a ticket with Microsoft to confirm that it's not malware and asked them to review the files so they can whitelist them. (Needless to say the files are not malware!!). At some point, the warning should clear. It's happened to us before, I think it was with Crystalline which also had a lot of downloads. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Thanks, not sure why I didn't immediately try a different browser. One of those "duh..." moments for my brain when I read that. Grabbed it with Chrome, no problem. Hopefully will have time to play with it over the weekend.
