Now if only you can convince your colleagues to get us loyal non-plus Reasonites that new Objekt for free, since until now in version 12 we only got Mimic as a new instrument …
It’ll be the same price as Friktion and other RS synths (wonder why Parsec is still more pricey than the others)

If so, I won’t be getting it.
Waited long enough for AS compatibility.
Didn’t use Reason for over a year on my ‘strictly AS native’ Macs. The way I see it, Reason 12 was dead in the water until now.

I travel a bit to places without wifi and spotty cell service, and use an Apple Silicon Mac so this was a good update for me, nothing exciting, but I can't stand online copy protection, it can fail, and it's nice to get some CPU back with native support. To be fair it was (Apple Silicon support) announced as part of 12 upon introduction, so it's really late in coming.

Reason 12 Intro with HD graphics, come on. :x

But I cannot remember any update of any software which got version for both platforms and which was "PC" only...
What do we PC users get to compensate??
We payed the same money, we are for sure not the minority of users, why are we second class??
Just because we use a system which just works and doesn´t need constantly adjustment??

So the Windows version still phones home? This is an update, updates aren’t paid versions, nobody promised you anything when you bought 12 that you haven’t gotten right? Because they promised Apple Silicon support in 12. I’m personally enjoying using Reason Rack in other DAWs, the resizable GUI and the offline support.

One thing though, they are slow, I upgraded from literally 2.5 to 10 and it wasn’t anywhere near the paradigm shift it would be for other DAWs. I always liked Reason for its instruments not so much for its sequencer, so hopefully that’s what they concentrate on. MPE support would be great, but that’s niche to most people.

As of 12.6, both Mac and PC will "phone home" at least once per year if you authorize for offline use as a Reason+ subscriber. For a 12.6 perpetual owner, though - I'm unclear. Are you perpetual or R+? When you authorize for offline use, what does it say in your Preferences under account info?

I'm an R+ MTM subscriber, so mine says this:

It is max a Year for perpetual licenses to before authorizing is needed so it is not a real Offline mode at all and is more like a authorization Pause mode but we do atleast get a year before being nagged about it Compared to other 30-90days "offline modes".

Not to mention, we also now get up to 3 offline computers to authorize. I'm OK with this. Being able to see how much time I have left before I need to log in once is totally fine by me.

Couldn´t care less...
Reason runs here on a desktop PC which is 24/7 online anyway...
I don´t care about the 10 people using Reason on train or airplane...
I think this is more to protect them (possible justified legal claims if their servers go down) then pleasing us...obviously apart from the 10 people I mentioned before...

It´s always the same story... yes of course it´s a free update...
Nonetheless you Mac users have forced again (and again and again) to waste quite some time of developing power because of staying with a silly OS system which forces software to be "rewritten" over and over again because of the "Apple games"...

God knows what features already could have been realized if they wouldn´t have all the time to please you with your compatibility breaks...

I deleted the rest I wrote... just that much: I am really sick of the games Mac users are playing!

I agree :tu:
I was hoping for True Offline mode but a Year is good enough for me + that you know the date when reauthorizing is needed.

OK so you're just looking for a fight, IMO it's better to get on with life than to fume over things you can't change. I'm not switching to Windows anytime soon, and you're not getting Reason Studios to ditch Mac. Those things aren't happening, so what you're doing is getting angry about things you cannot control.

Plus, Live, Cubase, Bitwig, Reaper etc. etc. all support both OS's, and are significantly improved with jumps like I took from Reason 2.5 to 10. You can only blame so much development progress on compatibility issues with Mac OS. A large portion falls on Reason Studios, 2 to 10 was my jump, and honestly for my purpose it wasn't anything to write home about.

I stopped upgrading Reason because they didn't improve Rewire, and I didn't care to use it as a DAW, so for my needs the jump to Apple Silicon and Reason Rack is what I wanted. IMO it's pretty messy as a DAW, and that's not on Apple users or the Rack plug in, they had 15 years to make it amazing, and it's not. the standard plug ins, MIDI and audio FX are all great, and opening up Racks from 15 years ago everything is fine. This is what I like Reason for.

Mostly I think men online will argue about anything, I'm grateful Reason is still in existence, and I like the improvements in 10 to 12. I hope the next version gives you what you want out of it.

You’re on crack. Reason DAW is magnificent.
