Hi young Padawan,

on June 1st, Tegeler will launch their first sound-enhancing plugin and will celebrate it by giving away one (1) Creme per 100 pre-orders.

We can only tell you what exactly it is on the release day.

Why? Because usual product announcements are way too boring.

You can preorder the plugin for 59,90€ (incl. VAT) until May 31st, 23:59. After that, the price will increase to 99,90€ (incl. VAT) – and it won't change anymore.

We're simply not fans of pricing digital products extremely high, only to cross them off 3 days a year and quote our actual price. Everyone is just waiting for Black Friday to buy the plugin they want, and get annoyed if they need it earlier and have to buy it overpriced. That's why we will continue to follow our policy: 'fair pricing without any manipulative marketing tricks.'

Here’s the coolest part, though: we're giving away one free Creme every 100 preorders, so you have a good chance to snag a free Creme with your plugin purchase. Shipping included.

This is what we can say about the plugin: it’s incredibly versatile, genre-independent, and it comes with lifetime plugin support. That’s right, no countless subscriptions or forced upgrade purchases. Buy it once and the plugin is yours. Forever.

You’ll be able to use it as often as you want in your session. You can put it in every track of your project multiple times. The only limit is your processing power, not your license with us.

Compatibility:

Plugin formats: AU, AAX, VST, VST3
Operating system: Windows 7 and up (64-bit), OSX 10.7 and up (64-bit), Apple Silicon or Intel processor
DAWs: all major DAWs, including Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Logic Pro, FL Studio, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, Bitwig, Reaper, Reason etc.

This left me speechless to be honest... still not quite sure what to make out of all this.

Loot boxes (and/or AAA game pre-orders :D) coming to audio world. This is FOMO abuse on steroids. Pretty pathetic.

Also...

Imperial Delay would like a word too.

1. Sounds so dodgy I'd probably assume it was a virus/trojan/something nasty and delete automatically immediately
2. If it's serious...are they having a fkin huge laugh? We're not going to tell you what it is but give us your money anyway. A free creme - what, creme caramel, Krispy Kreme fkin donut? Almost the dumbest marketing/trolling I've ever seen.

I'm interested but I'm not a fan of the paying for a mystery box idea

It's hardware.

And of course, it's not explained anywhere (that I could find) how they will transparently show who is the 100th purchaser (or more of them).

I really can't believe people fall for these schemes.

Not to mention silly wording like this (emphasis is mine):
we're giving away one free Creme every 100 preorders, so you have a good chance to snag a free Creme with your plugin purchase
Unaudited and presumably not transparent 1 in 100 chance is a "good chance".

Oh, things I've learned today...

edit: I stand corrected, I found some explanation at the bottom of the page...
*Offer valid only for direct purchases. Prices include VAT. Different countries might have different taxes. Every preorder will be entitled to winning a ticket for a Creme raffle consisting of no more than 100 contestants. Offer valid only until May 31st, 2023.
And that's all that is explained. Still can't believe someone would buy an invisible plugin for 60 EUR, just for 1:100 chance (assuming it is really 100% transparent and not prone to abuse) to get some hardware. But then again, people play lotteries every day so who knows...

Generally speaking the reality is even worse, people buy lots of plugins for no reasons at all, i think people buy plugins because they like "the toy" but they don't have any clue on how to use them to make good music.
Marketing won, period.
I see people in forums that buy "everythings", or at least that's what the write. I see more often people that buy every new release or that comment "i bouught it even without trying it, cause i know you are good".... or so.
Sometime it happens to see these people to share their music, i feel bad for judging someone else music, cause it's art (i stop here don't want to open another topic, and it's a big one) but it sounds bad or amatorial, out of any context, and they have spent probably more money on plugins than a professional studio in hardware.

I tests plugins for my channel, and i see lots of companies releasing different plugins that are mostly the same stuff with a different GUI and some tweak. In the latest months i recreated my favorite EQ curves with MAutoDynamicEQ that allow me to programmish knobs to behave as i want.
Same for MTurboComp, i recreated all the compressors i liked the most, such distressor, 1176, la-2a and few others, and they sounds more accurate to the references than different plugins from the same kind.

But people keep buying because of "magic", "3d", "analog vibe" and so on, and companies have lots to laugh, because they just keep selling the same stuff with different internal settings.

Don't get me wrong, there are lots of very good software that serve the purpose. Having different tools that helps unexperienced people it's also something nice to have. We also live in a world where everything is marketing or a brand, even people and artists are brands.

In the plugin world we just reached a level of idiocracy that is unbelievable, people should understand the difference between what's real and what's a statement made from the marketing department

Did you really just put a subliminal advertisement for you carefully and precisely 'analog' modeled, Melda #presets under this post? :o

FOMO+hype based plugins are for a FOMO+hype audience. Easy pass.
If this is how they're going to start... man oh man... Looking forward to the bombardment of every annoying sponsored youtuber telling me what a game changer this one is...

Half of those are already in the making as it seems. To be fair their hardware, Creme is a good unit for sure. So not sure what made them do this 'new' kind of move.
