Has anyone done a head-to-head?
I have it, and it’s amazing.
UVI’s is a carbon copy, pretty blatantly.
I didn’t buy the UVI one, I demo’d it and it was basically the same.

Perhaps you thought you were being smart but there is no "don't install" option. It just tells you to do what I said in my previous post, gives you an "ok" button to click and then finishes.
That is not the UVI installer as I know it...
Normally the plugin gets installed first and then comes the ilok installer that can be aborted

UVI Plate came out in October 2018. Physical Audio Dynamic Plate came out in September 2021. It's impossible for UVI to have copied a plugin that didn't exist yet.

This is what I get. When it's done the plugin won't recognise the copy protection software that's installed. Cancelling the PACE install has the same result.

Exactly, that's the pace installer after the plugin is installed. The plugin must be installed already at this point, and as a newer pace driver is already installed the demo should work when the demo license is activated. .
Maybe the license isn't activated, if the plugin doesn't recognize it

Nah man, you’re wrong. It came out March 2018, I have the receipt. There also a whole discussion about it at the time, because it was uncanny how similar it was…

Edit: just search this thread.

Yep. You are correct. I found a gearspace thread announcing Dynamic Plate in 2021 and assumed that was the release date.

https://gearspace.com/board/product-ale ... verbs.html

...but alas that's not the case. So kudos for the correction. I really don't remember hearing about this one. Anyway, the UVI is nice. The backstory, as I understand it, is that there's a really good paper out there on modeling Plate reverbs and everyone from Valhalla to UVI to Arturia (who built the model then created an IR of it) are basically using the info from that paper as the basis for their Plate plugins. But there are definitely some UI similarities between this and that Dynamic Plate plugin.

I stand corrected! :tu:

Physical Audio PA1 Dynamic Plate free beta was released in December 2016. Apparently it even had movable drivers and pickups, originally.

The commercial version came out March 2018.

They also published a white paper on physically modeling plates in 2016, which you can still download from their site.

Yes, that’s the paper that Physical Audio published.
