If anyone has any suggestions or requests regarding ST2...

A few ideas:
As I spend 80% of my time searching for sounds and 20% doing everything else combined, I would like to see improvements in navigating sound to sound.
- Double clicking seems very sluggish - I often feel like I have to speed click or triple click a sound to get it to start loading. Would like the option to single click to load sounds.
- Would like to see a filter search feature. You type in the first few letters of a sound, and ST dynamically filters your instrument list to matches. I could type "piano" for instance and get nothing but a list of all my piano sounds, ready to be loaded.
- While we're at it, how about a master sound list feature. Have ST just list outright every sound alphabetically (with no folders!) I peruse and scroll right to my favorite sounds without having to remember which library they were burried in. navigating level after level of folders with only the little arrow to open a folder gets tiresome very quickly.
- Allow folders to be opened by double clicking the folder name, not just the miniscule little arrow next to it.
- Mouse scrolling in the instruments list please.
- Larger font sizes would be a BIG plus. I've got eagle eyes, but I could go blind or injure my neck craning at ST!
- Tons of space could be cleared up just by moving the tracks 9-16 (for example) into their own tab. On a side note, perhaps someone could give me an honest rundown of the merits of having 16 channels when one could quite easily open another instance of ST when you need more than 8 parts or so. It has always seemed to me that the part manager just swallows up the whole interface. I'm open to all good arguments for and against.
- MIDI learn!
- Tempo sync for LFOs!
I'll scribble other stuff as I remember it.

rmirabelle,
Any suggestions for improvements should also be submitted to IK. (see the first message of this thread)
I agree with all points you make regarding the use of the mouse and mouse wheel scrolling.
There is one very important reason to currently have 16 parts in ST2: every instance of ST2 gobbles 45MB of memory without loading any sounds !!

A couple of thoughts (and, yes, I will also post them to IK
)
Already mentioned but of serious importance to me would be mouse scrolling and midi learn.
Additonally, I would like to see two other features added.
1) when a preset or child preset is altered from what was loaded it would be nice to have some siginal of such - perhaps a font or color change. Sometimes I don't save as a new preset but save as a combi and loose track if I have tweaked a named preset in a particular song.
2) Once a sound has been loaded into a track it would be nice to be able to move and/or copy the sound with its current fx (changed or not) to another slot. Perhaps a drag and drop to a new slot or a ctrl drag to copy to another slot.
Perhaps these are unique to my workflow but I would find them useful.

My God you're right - ST isn't a CPU hog, it's a memory hog! Doesn't surprise me actually, many of the synths I own are one or the other. Now I know when it comes time to upgrade my system to go all out (2GB? 3GB?) on RAM. Thanks for the input.asseca wrote:rmirabelle,
