QUANTUM 2772 EVOLUTION V2 (AAX/VST/AU)

We are proud to announce the release of Quantum 2772 Evolution V2, offering redesigned filters that faithfully emulate the sound of the legendary hardware reverb. The new V2 filters (Bandwidth, RT60 Low, RT60 High) emulate the same topology used by the hardware.

V2 is available as a free update for existing users and offered at $74 (normally $99) for a limited time!

There are three principles that make the Quantum 2772 Evolution uniquely different than the vast majority of other reverb processors:
  • Accurately modeled resonances of a space. The Quantum 2772 Evolution takes a different approach by modeling the resonant modes and modal densities of a real room, providing the listener with psychoacoustical cues that help to create a true sense of space and depth.
  • Unique, non-linear dynamic envelope. Because of its system of related, interconnected resonators, the Quantum 2772 Evolution is able to create a much more realistic envelope of sound in the attack phase by creating a non-linear system which models the complex resistance and inertia characteristics of a real room.
  • Clear, un-modulated reverb. Because the Quantum 2772 Evolution embraces the natural interaction and build-up of well-coordinated resonances, it does not need to rely on any form of modulation, offering a degree of clarity, naturalness and pitch-stability not typically found in other reverbs.

Minor criticsim on the gui , using a photorealistic gui and then using the standard juce controls is clunky and kind of cheap .

Oh dear… the plug-in doctor can’t find any aliasing, so bitches about the gui…

It’s a f**king lush reverb. Congrats on the sound!

I kinda agree with him though.... I don't mind a good hardware style GUI, or a good digital/modern GUI - but this mixes the worst aspects of both. These 'tongue piercing' Juce knobs just look weird here - I'd prefer some fake hardware knobs.

BUT... your sentiment is correct - what really matters is how it sounds, and this is an incredibly great sounding verb - now made better (I'm expecting / haven't tested yet).

i'm familiar with the Yardstick, but what model is this emulating? or just inspired by?

I remember hearing the Yardstick sometime in the early noughties, brazenly overused on some russian psytrance album, it's an amazing reverb.

You're pathetic
I never said anything about the quality of the reverb.

That was my point.

We might offer alternative GUIs in the future... we find customer opinions mixed on how they like the GUI. How do you like the new V2 filters?

The UI is terrible, there is little doubt about that, first looks are important, no matter what anybody says.

Have you used the original hardware, and if so, do you prefer a photorealistic GUI?

I'm a bit of a plugin collector and have spent years of my life between here and Gearspace: I don't think anyone needs a photo-realistic GUI of a rack reverb. No one's whining and pining for the awful editing experience of hardware or the weird dimensions of a 1U piece of rack gear*. :)

*Note: 2U and 3U compressors are a bit of different story. The dimensions are less awkward on plugins, and the originals had multiple controls with no hidden params.

My advice would be hire a GUI designer and start fresh on the GUI. Just focus on making it the best plugin it can be. If you want to keep reference to the hardware, then maybe retain the blue color scheme and meters and maybe even the LCD style display.

With Lexicon, at least the 224 and 480, people copied the LARC because it's distinctive and translates pretty well to a plugin GUI. But you'll notice that with the PCM series, Lexicon themselves didn't try to make them look like the rack hardware. And almost no plugins use 1U rack dimensions and/or replicate the editing experience of rack hardware. Even the ones that do usually have expanded GUI options (like the Roland Cloud plugins).

This reverb is fantastic. Love the new filters, but i also love v1 ones... Congrats to the team.

CPU is similar to other high performance reverbs. The original hardware designer said that it would not be possible to implement as a plugin, so there are a number of things that are needed, and thus the higher CPU.
