They're definitely talking about you. Well, that and the giddy Make Noise thread that's sucking up their hype like half-off sushi.

Sounds like they’re making too much noise?ghettosynth wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 8:41 pmThey're definitely talking about you. Well, that and the giddy Make Noise thread that's sucking up their hype like half-off sushi.
Half off sushi… nothing more telling than the lone hot dog at the gas station that is probably as old as it looks.
Also it looks like I’m trading a Milky Way for Caltran. I’m going to give this thing a try and see how it works

This is what's cool about caltrans; you could do the same thing with other sources, e.g., using filters as oscillators.

Interesting. I’ve got a CalTrans and an MS20 Mini and I assumed I needed to convert to v/oct before passing the signal in, good to know it can take a Hz/V source directly. But, tbh the MS20 already has octave selection, portamento etc so I’d probably stick to driving it via MIDI.

Congrats, mine is on its way. Enough time has elapsed so that I no longer feel like a crack whore when I click the order button, and besides, I had points, which are like magic money that I don't care about.elxsound wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 9:39 pmSounds like they’re making too much noise?ghettosynth wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 8:41 pmThey're definitely talking about you. I like some of Doepfer's lineup, especially that polyphonic mixer and the photo-phasor.

Yeah, there's not much win if it already has midi control which will already have a calibrated V/Hz adapter. Beyond the obvious though, that it can do this is particular interesting because it means that it can be a calibrated V/Hz adapter for multiple VCOs.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 9:50 pm Interesting. I think it’s more that when it calibrates a device it just starts increasing voltage linearly and when it finds something it recognises as a note it stores it in its memory so I guess it doesn’t really matter how the mapping works because it gets there one way or another. It’s why it’s really good at fixing oscillators that have screwed up ranges (such that when you double the voltage on a v/oct it actually goes up less or more than 12 semitones).ghettosynth wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 10:27 pmYeah, there's not much win if it already has midi control which will already have a calibrated V/Hz adapter. I have a knackered 3340 oscillator that can work perfectly via the CalTrans, but it actually goes up 13.5 semitones per volt!

No, yes, I understand how it works. That's my point, you can use it for any VCO that has a voltage control input regardless of how it normally works, modulo you may have a limited range. This is a super win for simple DIY oscillators, both from a pure DIY POV but also from a "let's patch this shit up in the rack" POV.WatchTheGuitar wrote: Sun May 07, 2023 10:31 pmI think it’s more that when it calibrates a device it just starts increasing voltage linearly and when it finds something it recognises as a note it stores it in its memory so I guess it doesn’t really matter how the mapping works because it gets there one way or another. So any voltage controlled LFO that goes into the audio range is now an exponential VCO. I have some specific things in mind that this will make easier for me.

A ‘friend of mine’ knows a few and he said they had a massive rack.

Glad to see WMD will be making stuff again. Interested to see what they make under the AMMT brand.

Yes, that’s great news. I look forward to seeing that new sampled hi-hats module and nice to know there’ll be a new Metron.justin3am wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 5:04 pm Glad to see WMD will be making stuff again. Interested to see what they make under the AMMT brand.
