Is this a vocal plugin effect or good editing?

and what it is. I think it might be an Izotope pluggy or just a vocoder?

Thank you. I knew it had to be one of these.

To me it does not at all.
She is simply a very good singer and Finneas really knows what he is doing too. It's several vocal-tracks that come in and out basically - and the strange low voice sounds like formant-shifting to me.
All in all this is more great singing than anything else, I'd say.

I was wondering if it might be Melodyne or Zplane, but the stuff in my Melodyne can sound crunchy when shifted. If it's a pitch edit it's a really good one. GrossBeat can do this, just not that subtly. (or that long of a phrase I think.)

It’s not that hard.osiris wrote: Mon May 08, 2023 9:07 pm I was wondering if it might be Melodyne or Zplane, but the stuff in my Melodyne can sound crunchy when shifted. If it's a pitch edit it's a really good one. GrossBeat can do this, just not that subtly. (or that long of a phrase I think.)
you need a decent singer that can repeat performance.
You need to cut the plosives (they’re obvious when not in time + you don’t need them 10 times).
You can use revoice to align them.
For non plosive sounds you can generally just fade in/out harms and it’s impossible to tell in context, no need to even align them perfectly

Or you manually align them whereever needed directly on the timeline. This can be a little tedious (it requires to keep critically keepwhile making minute adjustments and also to make the right decision on which track(s) to actually edit at any given point on the timeline) but the better the singer is, the less edits you have to actually make. And I assume that is exactly what happened here.

It's sounds like it's only the harmony track and it's at the end of the vocal phrase and shift is so minute and perfect, if he did it by hand I have to give it to Finneas for his skills.

Like I said: give it to her as well for being an impeccable singer.
She is just stunningly good. She basically makes Adele seem like an amateur in comparison...

ok thanks, i thought it sounds like a harmoniser giving a psychedelic effect, but i don't know much about that.jens wrote: Tue May 09, 2023 8:32 pm I basically only hear the band singing the chorus unisono in the background...

The Blur video sounds like layers of vocals and at the bottom mixed sounds like the stuff I get out of Vieklang Instant Harmony 2
