Sub only, 4.99 (USD or Euro)/month or 49 (USD or Euro)/year.

I think it's interesting to screw around with for a few hours but also don't think I would probably ever use it in any real serious way. I just don't think this is something that would be a good experience compared to using it on a bigger computer. I don't like the idea of it being sub only, but the price is very reasonable.

As of today, you are probably right. But this is a chicken/egg problem: Apple must start at some point, even if it is not (yet) on par with the computer version. On the other hand: you can right now attach a docking station to the iPads with integrated SSD, network, video, mouse, and keyboard. And probably in 5-10 years you won‘t see the difference, because tablet computer and home computer are the same device.

No, thanks.

Beat Breaker looks interesting! Gonna have to try that one

I think I'd be more interested in FCPX on iPad than Logic, but it's cool to see both of them available. I'm just going to keep an open mind and see it how it goes before I decide if either of them are for me.

I doubt my 3rd gen. iPad Air will work with it. Expensive iPad Pros with the latest chips, maybe. I'll pass on it, as well.

What do you mean? It has an A12 Bionic, which is the minimum requirement for the iPad version of Logic Pro.

'minimum requirement.' It's not necessary for me, but thanks for the heads up.

Yeah that's where I see this headed as well. Apple have stated over and over again that iOS and Mac OS are different because touch and mouse/keyboard together offer all kinds of issues, but IMO this is just them staging their transition in a frog in boiling water way, transition so slowly no one notices. I think they learned from the abysmal transition to touch Microsoft hasn't been able to get the public interested in, and are counting on time and the slowly boiling water effect.

What's disturbing in the long game is the fact that Logic in general will go subscription, it simply isn't going to stop with the iOS version and I would bet in 5 years or less there's one version of Logic, by subscription.

And now you can use the mouse and keyboard with an iPad :)

Yep frog in soon to be boiling water. I mean the metaphor in a more positive way though, basically acclimating people to using touch, pen, mouse or keyboard when needed slowly to avoid the lack of adoption that Microsoft had with touch.

I'm not as down with the subscription model though, I prefer Update Plans and Upgrade licenses to not being able to freeze an old computer offline with old songs that use deprecated plug ins etc.

Logic has been described as a 'loss-leader' to get people to buy Apple's hardware. Now, it looks like they want to make money with it?

Then I’m done with Logic.

Is this gonna be the third Logic thread where that poster compares Logic to Disney+…?

Agree with the comments about the sub model likely spreading to the Mac version and I’m not happy about subscribing to a DAW.

Not really down with touch on computers either, makes your arms ache to lean across to touch a large, slightly distant monitor.
