There's quite a big difference between MN and most if not all of those, anyway I'm not really here to bash MN believe it or not. So, im out, carry on :tu:

One tidbit from that Sonic State video that grabbed me: it's real-time, no latency. I assume witchcraft or tachyons are involved somehow.

I don't think this one got shared yet... some good info in here. https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal/m ... n-overview
Not that I care THAT much, but I shared that at the butt-crack of dawn.

The interface isn t too shabby and it has a broad range of sounds. It has some spirit to it and is not overly glitchy like some granual stuff that i find over the top. And anything that can do a vocodery sound grabs my attention.

We haven t seen much yet though. So I d like to see more.

I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

If you were going to say that it has nothing to do with granular or vocoding, fair enough. :D
I was just talking about sound impressions. Not the technology behind it. Haven t a clue how it works for now.

As a sidenote. I noticed how smooth the pitch* of the salesperson was and how they are treating this as some kind of blockbuster with sparsely leaking info and having some grace performances of the local modular rockstars. Smooth…

* I am referring to the sales pitch here. Not the perceived pitch related to the base frequency of the sonic material.

^^^ Nah, I had posted this, 5-hours early... now it's only 20-ish minutes away.

Even though I really don't 'need' another sound source/oscillator, I'm really attracted to this for it's hands-on spectral/frequency isolating, and manipulation/processing {i.e. sound "sculpting"} potential, which is even now, self evident, and that is 'what' I mainly enjoy doing with sound. 8)

Yeah, I love everything that works on spectrum like filters, vocoders, etc so I m liking this stuff too.
I had a look at Panharmonium too and hope that Spectraphon has enough of its soundprocessing/fx capabilities. On the osc side, i guess it is somewhat as the Thorn vst.

I m not so much into Reids flavor for harsh sounds and noise, so I am interested to see what other producers have gotten out of this device. Nice that you can store your own arrays (although 16 is a bit on the low side for a digital device anno 2023, but i ll take it).

Panharmonium:

All in?

I haven’t seen it yet. But the sounds Walker played had me convinced.

i pretty much think so.
just got to work out how to fit it in, till i can make space for another case...

i may just swap out rene for now, as i have a few sequencers now, so can afford to lose it for a bit.

While I know I would swap out Mindphaser, I’m leaning towards not selling it and just putting it in a pod for now. I have a big list of things I’m selling off. I have about 1/3 of it out the door and only half of it listed so I’m making progress… and there’s my Spectraphon budget too.

I suspect (from what I have heard from 'former' panharmonium owners) that the Spectraphon will be far more immediate and flexible.

Though he is into noise also, he is an excellent presenter, and extremely knowledgeable. Plus he was on the development team for this.

I'm psyched to see what Cinematic Labs does with it. :tu:

Regardless... I'm in. 8)

I’m looking forward to that too.

Dealing with prepping things to sell I’ve been leaving that on in the background which makes my process slow, because I’m trying to read along at the same time.

Post

well i can't order it anyway.
