In which alternative universe is that?
Try doubling that and you may be closer to the real price.
My universe consists of iPad 12.9 pro.
23rd of may, here I come :D

Just checked my Amazon account, I paid £630+VAT (I claim back VAT) 8 Oct 2021

2021 Apple iPad Pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi, 256GB) - Space Grey (3rd Generation)
I paid $899 for my M1 iPad pro (11-inch, Wi-Fi, 256GB) around May 2021. currency exchange rate then is probably different to now.

Yeh, that about £675, not a lot of difference. the 12.9 and M2s (or later models) may be more expensive I guess- haven't checked- never got close to needing more power or storage!
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

yeah. more or less same price. i've not needed more power either. wouldn't mind more storage but so far not really been an issue. it's a great ipad and my first.

Does anyone know if this can host AU?

Post

And can it do the automatic tempo mapping thing that Logic on a computer can do?

thought i read somewhere it hosts AUv3 but can't find that now. maybe it's on the first page of this thread somewhere.

as for features.. it's supposed to be same app.. same features and cross compatible between platforms.

So, some Apple developer support guy telling Markus that AUv2 is deprecated, then Apple releasing Logic on the iPadl, that can host AUv3, I think it's pretty obvious the way this is going, at some point AUv3 will be the standard, and that point is coming quickly I would bet.

I get it, everyones trying to make money, but really CLAP came way too late, AUv3 type support will be necessary soon, unless all the other DAWs are going to let Logic be the only iPad DAW of merit.

Ableton Live also has AUv3 support. The only plugins available, though, are mifki and Moog.... I really like the Moog ones. Also bought all the available packs just to support development. And because they are awesome, too. :ud:

On the topic of Logic on iPad:
I bought an iPad Pro with an M1 CPU for making music on the run... at least that was the plan. Bought AUM, Cubasis... you name it. At the end of the day one has to have it plugged in to really be able to use it as a music making unit. I had a USB C adapter hooked up to it and sat on my bed with all that stuff plugged into it and the workflow of the apps available was just too cumbersome. Why not just use the laptop instead? So I sold the damn thing.

I never have my iPad plugged in to anything, it just charges when I sleep, that’s it. Most of the time I just make music with it when travelling with my Apple pro wireless headphones…slight latency but I’m normally programming beats and sequences rather than olaying in Live anyway…it definitely won’t replace my (work) laptop, but there are many places that I don’t want to use a laptop. I can make calls on my laptop, but I still have a iphone!

It just wasn't for me. If full-on Logic was available at the time I had it, then I probably would have kept it...dunno.
But making music with AUM, Cubasis and the other one I can't remember the name.... wasn't cutting it. Instead of being an easy way off composing some tracks on the go, it turned out to be a mess.
That's my experience anyway, everyone's else's mileage may vary, of course.

I don't think I would have bought an ipad 'just' for music (maybe for Borderlands ;-)) but I always have it with me for dozens of other reason/uses so may (such as browsing KVR on the move!) as well bash out a tune as well :-)

That's what I have the MacBook for now. My main machine is at home and Imade hard links on both which are constantly iCloud connected. If I make a change on the macBook, the Mac at home has it, too.
Came in handy as I was visiting my dad in Austria for a couple of days.
