Lalo Schifrin's Theme from the Man From Uncle, Season 2
The great Jerry Goldsmith composed the theme (his arrangement was used in season 1) and apparently hated Schifrin's version which of course became the more popular one.
The following year Schifrin wrote the theme for Mission Impossible and entered a phase when he no longer had to worry about pissing off Jerry...

Speaking of covers that apparently were not appreciated by the composer, the story I've heard is that Richard Rodgers didn't care much for what John Coltrane did to My Favorite Things.
I chose this live version from 1963 because the drummer was Roy Haynes who a couple of months ago turned 98!

I was trying to find a live version, but got overwhelmed!
