Also, didn't Dior license Marilyn Monroe image at one time? I'm thinking it's not long before someone creates a software and famous singers license their voices to be used in it. Do you think that could happen? It would be great to hear Prince or Amy Winehouse again. But, it would never be with their talent behind it. Imagine a new Queen album. (horrified as I wrote that.)

dunno about amy, but both prince and freddie were more than just the voice on their productions.
especially prince.

But there's all that music he never recorded or just demoed. I wonder how an A.I. Prince album would go over?

But shouldn't someone who sounds much like another singer still be allowed to make music? Should they be muted? Still, AI mimicking is a different scenario, but I'm not so sure you can copyright (or patent or whatever) a voice.
My wife's grandfather was sued for sounding too much like Bing Crosby in the early 70's. 60 Minutes even did a story about it. Stopped his career which had been for decades pretty successful.

Gibson predicted so much. I wonder how long before someone puts stuff out that was done with AI, and if it becomes popular if they will let on that it's a fabrication. Sort of reminds me of Tom Scholz, who did the very first Boston album in his basement, got signed, then had to form a band and recreate the album.

The very thought that John Wayne drank a Lite beer is abborant to some I imagine.

I know. Coors was the first beer I ever tasted and I wondered why anyone would drink that.

There are tons of great musicians out there who feel like their voice is holding them back. Sure, the songs in Rick's video use AI to help with the singing, but the original songs (not the remakes with deceased artists) are only in the video because they are genuinely good songs that a real person created.

I’m part of a team that has created an AI tool that transforms vocals into a professional artist's sound. Our goal is to empower all musicians to create complete songs on their own terms.
