Hi,
I know this site https://www.pro-tools-expert.com/apple- ... ield_6|asc
but what are your personal experiences? would you switch to Ventura now or do you already have it?
I myself am not yet sure and do not really dare to do so..
I have Ableton, Bitwig, Reason, Logic and Cubase Pro, some NI stuff, Soundtoys, Izotope, Melda, Waves, Omnisphere and so on
i am not sure if I should wait for MacOS 14 or upgrade to Ventura now..

I always stay one behind. That's a general rule, especially for pros (I'm not one of them). So, I'm on Monterey, and it works with Logic flawlessly, for me.

okay, I'm not surprised that you don't have any problems, that's very little and does not help me reallyFranklyFlawless wrote: Mon May 15, 2023 5:45 amNo. The most I use is Ardour and Surge XT. Less is more.

I just took another look at the new features of Ventura and, apart from the security functions, there is nothing I need to make music. I will leave everything as it is and wait for macOS 14

good call.
I waited from Mojave to Monterey and have had so few problems during that time.
If i didn't have like 500 plugins i might be a bit more carefree.
but, there's really no point.

i wonder why i wanted to upgrade to ventura in the first place, there is really nothing interesting there that i need.

Just updated to Monterey last week. Glad I did. My usb-c monitor not working upon my Mac mini waking issue I was having has been fixed. Everything seems to be a bit faster.Bombadil wrote: Sun May 14, 2023 12:37 pm I always stay one behind. That's a general rule, especially for pros (I'm not one of them). One thing I’ve noticed over the past few OS upgrades, boot time seems to take longer than it should. At one time on OSX powering up to desktop took a total of like 10 seconds. Now it takes like 26 or so. Not a dealbreaker, but kind of weird.

Mine is about 10 secs. The M1 mini boots before various extensions and the BT mouse takes a second or two. Big Sur was that fast, too, but was pretty slow by the time I upgraded.

Sure, as long as those security functions are not important.andreasg wrote: Mon May 15, 2023 6:45 am I just took another look at the new features of Ventura and, apart from the security functions, there is nothing I need to make music. I will leave everything as it is and wait for macOS 14![]()
