Autogain is handy but as an on/off option.

I do the same, but the exact opposite, just because,.. it's different.

Thanks! I'll try this next time. Way we use it is in mix phase as atm. only one of us have the license for it. Very nice to target the saturation with Saturn 2, it just works!

One thing kinds missing in the discussion here is yes, saturation will increase loudness, some of this is only apparant loudness as the process of clipping and other distortions also act in a compressor type way so the peaks may not always go up as mushc as it seems from the volume.

I don't see how you can ever do much more than get the tone you want and then set the level.

This is much easier to do with hardware than with a mouse. That's a big issue with plugins recreating the interfaces of classic devices such as the 1176 or LA-2A
